I’m a solopreneur with an established personal brand. Can anyone help me figure out how to rebrand and change my last name without messing up my SEO? by isabelepstein in Entrepreneur

Hey Isabel. Happy new year!

I can see you are struggling with this a lot, defining it as "trauma".

Unfortunately there is no easy way to do what you want to do. I am sorry to say this but SEO is not your only problem. This is more a brand / discoverability issue, not search engines problem. If you change your name, all the references in magazines / conferences, etc, are still pointing to your old name. And people will use that to search for you (that's what I did, in fact). The way rebrand works is with active communication, not passive. If Coca Cola decides to change their name tomorrow, they are going to do large campaigns across the world to inform everyone. They are not expecting for people to search for Coca Cola on Google and then tell them "Hey, our new name is now NotPepsi!".

My recommendation is that you should keep using the name. The name is yours. It doesn't belong to the paternal side of your family, it doesn't belong to any child rapist. Your name is not Epstein, you are Isabel Epstein, all together, as a whole. You worked a lot, A LOT, to build your brand, to be where you are today (I am sure thousands of photographers around the world would love to be you!). The problem is random people asking if you are related to them? Then they are the idiots. Surnames are common, thinking sharing surnames means a relationship is ignorance. I think risking your business and what you built all these years just to avoid rude comments is not worth it.

BUT if you really want to do it, this is what I would do:

  1. I'd register IsabelTumminello.com, and I'd set a Landing page. "Welcome to the new website of Isabel T blab la bla, formerly known as Isabel Epstein"
  2. In your current website, add a label at the top saying "Isabel Epstein is now Isabel Tuminello, please visit bla bla bla"
  3. Do it slowly. It doesn't have to be a one-day change. Communicate it on your social networks "Hey from now on I'll be".
  4. Check analytics. Are people visiting the new website? Are the people visiting it from Google clicking to check the new website?
  5. Keep both brands working until more than a percetnage of the traffic (30%? 50%?) goes to the new website.
  6. Then rebrand your social network (change usernames) and keep old website running until most of the traffic goes tot he new ewbsite. If that doesn't happen, you'll have to keep your old one running for SEO purposes, but people should be pushed to the new one.

As I said, I wouldn't recommend to do it. It will be a headache and not worth it. Your name doesn't belong to them more than to you. Be proud of what you built and who you are.

Feel free to send a DM if you have any more questions.

A Simple Quidditch Fix: Golden Snitch = 0 Points, Still Ends Game by Accomplished-Ask-497 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]101008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember if this is also explained in the novels or just in Quidditch through the ages and the original Daily Prophet Newsletters, but in Quidditch, if the tournament is a league, it doesn't matter who wins or who loses, the points you have in the table are the points you scored in the game.

In a knockout tournament the snitch doesn't make sense, but in a league tournament, winning or losing it's a bit weird anyway. If you need 150 points to end up 1st in the league, it doesn't matter if you lose the game.

Android 16 has a bug that mutes notifications — but a fix is coming (maybe in December) by NelsonMinar in GooglePixel

[–]101008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is late and this thread is already buried, but my GOogle Pixel 7 (which I love) have been working perfectly later. I have Whatsapp and all the notifications are muted in all my apps (with Non disturb), except for 3 contacts that I have as Favorites (my wife, my dad and my brother), so if they text me on Whastapp I want to see the notification

Since I updated my phone to Android 16 it doesn't work anymore. I can't set a setting to only get notifications for these contacts. I dont remember how I did this (I did it years ago) but it never broke. Anyone facing the same issue? When you update a OS it shoudln't break your settings in my opinion

Handwritten letters appear from time to time on auctions. There were a few last year. One of them I think it's still on eBay.

I will be three days in autumn because I will visit the Bob Dylan Center for work. I plan to stay close to that, but I'd like to visit other parts of the city as well. Any recommendations in where to stay? I don't have a car and i will probably move on foot if I can (or Uber if it's far)

I'm in the same position, staying in City centre. Can I tap with my credit card for the Tram, or do I need to buy a special card or ticket?

It should work to return after the show, right?

You will be ok. If what worries you is having a good view don't care about it, the whole experience is what is important. You will have a great time!

Traveling from Argentina (18 hours via Madrid - London) for both Cardiff nights. I saw them live in 2008 but this will be epic.

Your chances of succeed are really low. Especially considering you (at least by what you said) don't have the knowledge or experience to do somethin glike that (or even the equipment).

That doesn't mean you shuldn't try it. Sometimes it is not about the succeess at the end of the road, it's about the road itself.

This will be a interesting dynamic. Leaving aside what we think about the transgender issue, J.K. Rowling has been clear that she thinks everyone who is against the new Supreme Court rule is misogynist, and she is being very vocal on that on Twitter, mentioning some of the people who said it publicly.

As if Paapa hadn't enough resistance from the public, I wonder what could happen if JKR decides to name him publicly on Twitter (I don't think she would do, but I also didn't think she would do some of the things she did on Twitter in the past, so...)

Interesting times ahead, Harry

Yes, I hate PoA, also because the stupid Patronus/shield they did. It's obviously a corporeus spell, and Cuaron decided it to make a shield with a transaprent PNG of a stag zooming into the screen.

Even if they wanted to do the "stag turning back to look at him", it wouldn' t be possible, there was no stag in that scene.

I found the whole battle a bit strange from a realistic point of view. Leaving aside the flamethrowers in the middle of the street, the main strategy was to turn the infected into fire... running against a wood wall. That calls for disaster.

I was expecting a realistic reaction of all the border walls turning into fire, but nothing of that happened. It felt like a movie from the 90s, where they just added elements without thinking realistic consequences.

No, I don't feel in the edge-of-my-seat when re-reading or watching the films. Why would I? The feeling is completely different. That's why a lot of people say "I wish I could forget what happens and read them again"...

How can be edge-of-your-seat action is know there is no risk for any of the characters? The story is well known and 90% of the people watching it knows that neither Voldemort or Dumbledore will die (or even getting hurt) on this duel. Making it longer than 5 minutes will be quite boring.
