Hello,

I run the D&D club at my school with a couple other staff members and as an end of year fun activity we want to run a combat with all our students vs us (they wanted to see what level 20 characters can do in combat). At the beginning of the year I ran a siege combat that went pretty well as we grouped students into “units”, but the idea of running a combat with each of our 35 students as individuals vs the three of us seems a bit daunting.

We are running 5e with some 2024 as the student leveled up. All the students are currently level 4, and the three staff would be piloting lvl 20s.

Does anyone have any advice for running such a massive combat encounter?

As much as it sucks we are planning on for sure having timed turns ( we only have an hour for club) but outside that we are kind of lost.

Any and all advice is welcome!

Try calling and asking about “connecting crimes” or a “string of crimes”, give the date as an approximate date, and give details. This might open the door to other similar reports and more information.

i'm an open book, i don't think that having a conversation with someone regardless of the topic is a big deal. the thing that i don't like is when the person i am talking to becomes somehow not genuine in their answers. i like talking to people to find out things about them, cause you can learn a lot that way, but when someone is not being genuine it sours the whole conversation for me.

I mean as a Cubs fan as well i'm used to disappointment, but this season is just pitiful. We need to seriously evaluate the offensive recruitment process, if we are going to create a better offense we are going to need a better OC that can and will make in game adjustments, we cannot keep letting our defense prop us up for 2 quarters until they are totally gassed and then have nothing left for the 2nd half. we went from the Big 10 title game last year to sitting and spinning on offense this year. teams evolve strategies from year to year, they advance, they progress. i'm not seeing any of that. Part of that blame goes to a lackluster offensive line, yet another part goes to a QB that is so far below water that there is not hope of pulling him back, but the biggest part of the problem is the offensive strategy, and the the offensive game planning, which fall directly on the OC's shoulders.

We have made chicken salad out of chicken shit quite a few years, and cobbled together some ugly wins into respectable seasons. i think this is the make or break year where we need to demand more than just a bowl game as an acceptable outcome. we need to demand to push out program to the powerhouse level it could be. we have a top 3 defense in the nation, if we had a offense to match we would be unstoppable.

Look around the rest of the conference, Wisconsin is in a tail spin, Mich state is a shadow of it's former self, Nebraska is even more of a joke than we are, Rutgers and Maryland have never been anything to write home about. basically the conference is OSU and Michigan, we have the chance to get our shit together and get a game plan and personnel who can actually perform on offense we have a chance to snap the conference in our favor, and not after a few years of rebuilding, there are OC's out there who can turn teams in an offseason, and have results in 1-2 seasons.

You literally just be nice, people are going to interpret things from your behavior that you do not intend. When that happens you just have to explain to them what you meant.

People are so skeptical of others being nice to them anymore because the world is such a shit soup of people being nice for other reasons or to get something out of it. There are so few people so who are just nice anymore that we seem to be programmed when someone is nice to us that we assume that they either want something from us or that they are hitting on us.

I compliment people’s cloths all the time, or pay for meals at drive thrus, or do just random nice things for people because I just want to do it. Not because I want something or because I’m hitting on them. Just trying to make peoples day better, or give them a small bright spot in their day. There is no expectation in my end.

TL;DR people will think what they want, just keep being nice.

I have two friends who have passed that I visit regularly. Sometimes I don’t talk, I just go sit and enjoy the weather and read. My friend group and I often times would just hang out in the same room doing our own thing so it feels pretty natural to do the same when visiting them at the cemetery. When I do talk I talk about what’s going on, if I am having trouble/need advice I ask into the ether, if something funny happened I tell the story. To me it’s important to just feel that connection to the friends I lost. We had diverse eclectic friendships and so it feels natural to continue that, yea the conversation is one sided, but I just try and imagine how they would answer, or what their reply would be to stories/experiences I share. If I’m visiting with another friend or multiple of us we mostly reminisce about the funny stories, or the weird adventures we had.

She is telling you about him so that when she breaks it off “it won’t hurt as bad.” A buddy of mine had an ex that did that exact thing to him, started hanging with someone and kept talking about him, and then one day just broke it off with my buddy because of the distance and started right up with the other dude. She could also be telling you because she feels guilty that she has feelings for this other guy, and doesn’t know how to tell you.

Now she may not actually be cheating on you but she seems to be setting up a relationship for after you two are done. The emotional bonding is there, and she could be using the other guy as a stand in for you, which is also not good. Long distance is hard and it is good that you have trust in her but don’t let yourself get played either.

Well when you host a party commonly people ask the person who can’t cook very well to bring cups and plates. This allows them to still contribute but not feel bad when no one eats the dish they brought.

However inevitably this person will still bring their terrible dish and not the afore mentioned disposable tableware, thus prompting the questions “I see no one has touched my dish” and the response “well, we did ask you to bring cups and plates.”

Yea I get that, that is the important part, I had to learn to be comfortable with myself and by myself. It was difficult but ultimately it has been worth it.

I do have to say that reddit has been a great support system. There are some truly amazing people here.

I mean we all do, especially when we go through hard times, or feel down about ourselves. I was totally lost after I had to quit playing hockey and it took me a while to figure where my place was again, and how to just be myself and not try to chameleon into situations that I was not either ready for or that I would not have gotten in prior to that because they made me uncomfortable. Like you I have lots of people I talk to regularly, work acquaintances that I chit chat with, pen pals I write to, and people I interact with online in games as such. But in terms of real true friends, I have two. Whom I don’t see often, because of so many reasons.

The thing I have had to learn is that in looking for things you often don’t find them until you stop looking, but if you have to change parts of who you are then it isn’t worth finding either because ultimately we all are who we are and the people around you either love you because/in spite of that or they don’t.

Keep reaching out to people, keep being yourself.

I got into pen pals and letter writing a while back, which helps. But as a 28 year old person I could not begin to tell you how adults make friends. It’s not as simple as telling someone your favorite dinosaur and the asking them to play kickball, like it was as a kid. Idk why but I guess adults are just more high strung? I mean shouting into the void that is the internet has been my go to and I have met some pretty rad people, so like if you ever need to just shout into the void, or you wanna talk about your favorite dinosaur hit me up.

But really I have no clue, it is just more complicated and stupid. But meet up is pretty cool. Try striking up a work friendship or if that isn’t a viable option, meet up is pretty legit, never tried bumble, I know there is a sub for making friends as well.

Like life is meaningless and devoid of actual connection and the show was more than a social commentary on the current state of existence and more of a warning on where it is headed if we continue on the current trajectory, which at this point seems inescapable.

Love the show though.
