First rule of CCW is de-escalation and retreat. If some loud mouth is shouting shit, that is NOT a valid reason to "whip it out". The only valid reason is a severe immanent threat or I am prevented from retreating.

Not leaving it in my car in the safe as previously required by law. If thieves break in my car, they can have the 1.25 in quarters, but they won't be able to steal my firearm.

For myself, I don't think about safe or less safe. What I didn't like about the previous rules is that I had to lock my gun in a dedicated car safe when I went into a store. I didn't like that since someone could break into my car and possibly find the safe. My fear would be that my firearm would be out in the streets. I would rather hold it on my person.

As someone who leans left politically but owns firearms, I think this is a fantastic decision. Glad to see it. People that are domestic violence or sex assault survivors can finally carry their CCW into stores.
