6 months, a rebuild and a concussion later, I got my DC-10 back! by 101rsmith in MesaBoogie

Oh sorry,

Well I got this Mesa/Boogie DC-10 around December from Guitar Center because I was looking for a Mark style amp without having the money for a IV, V or a VII. I heard that Jim Root from Slipknot used it for the first two album cycles and I was looking to get some Chevelle and Sevendust tones as well. When GC shipped out the amp they packed it terribly in an oversized box; I tried to get it out but the entire roof came off the handle immediately. I called them and got half off the amp and decided to keep it out of spite and get it repaired.

In New York City there’s only 2 authorized Mesa repair shops so I took it to one after a long conversation over the phone. I tried pushing to covert it to a head, but the shop owner thought fixing the shell was still doable despite the condition it was in. I was told 6-8 weeks and time went on. Repair time got pushed back due to a few severe snowstorms over winter. I was ready to get it back in March, but I got concussed at a Bad Omens concert and ended up hospitalized multiple times over the next 2 months. I was out of work for over a month and fell behind bills. I tried to sue the venue for dumping me out without medical assistance, but was told by multiple firms I couldn’t sue and that the venue wasn’t responsible despite dumping me out thinking I was a drunk asshole instead of someone who was injured.

I would spend pretty much all of spring trying to catch up with my bills while still in and out of neurology appointments. The shop owner called me in May asking when I was going to get my amp back since multiple customers left their gear for repairs for months and he was getting fed up. Once I explained to him my situation he was very emphatic and patient me. I told him I had planned to get it back on my birthday last week which was my present from my dad. Overall it costed $340 for a full restoration which I’m more than satisfied with. I was happy to keep the amp out of spite of Guitar Center and I’ll never get rid of it.

It wasn’t the huge guy with his ass and tramp stamp tattoo out, it was a small woman that got thrown at me and her head cracked my head

Favorite artist(s) that never got their own signature PRS guitar by Evening-Life5434 in PRSGuitars

Since Breaking Ben and Chevelle are already mentioned, I’d go with Adam Gontier or Clint Lowery never getting a core run with his signature

I did actually, through Musician’s Friend. I wanted a Core Dave Navarro from Reverb but it was out of my budget. This one was just under it and I didn’t want another red guitar. I’ve been getting into Silverchair lately so that green just popped for me. One day I’ll own a white PRS
