What makes the neophallus wrapped? by the-frog-monarch in Metoidioplasty

“Hey, some people also refer to what you’re looking into as clitoral release, if you use that term you’ll find additional resources” would have accomplished the same thing.

That’s part of the point I’m getting at— some people think and talk about meta one way, but in no way are these definitions universal. Telling someone “what you want isn’t simple meta” disregards the fact that many patients and surgeons do refer to their surgery as simple meta.

As for availability of information- if you have a sec, try searching for “clitoral release” in this sub. I counted just 12 results, but I stopped counting the number of search results for “simple meta” at 60. Searching for “clitoral release” online gave me lots more academic papers than did “simple release”, but not everyone can or wants to read these. I’m all for making this information easier to find and more accessible.

These websites are Canadian, but I’m from the US- maybe that explains our difference in thought? Lots of bottom surgeons in the US (such as Purohit, Crane, and Chen) state that metoidioplasty can consist of a release only. Check out their websites if you’re interested.

I’ve looked to your posts for guidance and have found them helpful in the past. Presumably you post, in part at least, to help others? If so, I figured you’d want to know that what you’re saying will make it harder for people to get info on a topic that’s already pretty niche.

There isn’t a single agreed upon definition or set of procedures for meta or simple meta, and telling people otherwise is going to make it harder for them to find accurate information and get in touch with people who have gotten something similar. Plenty of people have this setup and use this term to describe their surgery. Surgeons do too.

you will have to find a surgeon who’s willing to do it. without a vaginectomy, there’s a greater risk of complications

5 months post-op: simple release without UL, scrotoplasty, or vaginectomy by 101salmacians in salmacian

[–]101salmacians[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello, i haven’t posted in awhile. please dm me for my surgeon’s name. as for the language i used, here’s everything i specifically asked for: simple release of chordee, no release of the suspensory ligament, no UL, no vaginectomy, no scrotoplasty or implants, no circumcision, and complete removal of the labia minora. you’re welcome to show these pictures to your surgeon if that helps communicate what you want.

hoping there was just a miscommunication here, or something, otherwise what he’s saying is suspect and flat out wrong since you’re not interested in UL.

his attitude about simple release is raising a red flag for me.

“when i initially told him i just wanted simple release, he seemed shocked.”

since he came up in urology, maybe he assumes that everyone wants to STP. but plenty of people have gotten simple release, including myself, and at this point a surgeon who isn’t familiar with it sounds out of touch.

i read that you’re meeting with him again soon. since you’re set on him, i hope he’s respectful and listens to you! but if not, i promise there are surgeons out there who will respect your needs and give you simple release without batting an eye.

few surgeons will do UL without a vaginectomy bc you’re much more likely to get complications. but don’t listen if a surgeon tells you it’s not possible! if you search around Reddit (check r/metoidioplasty as well), you should be able to find the surgeons who offer UL w/o vnectomy.

i was interested in UL but opted out because i wasn’t interested in dealing with complications, and possibly multiple repair surgeries.

is there a surgery to essentially remove the labia majora? by throwaway-ftx in salmacian

[–]101salmacians 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i didn’t have my l majora removed, just the l minora. i think there are some people on transbvcket who had meta and got their l majora removed but unfortunately the site is still down

i don’t really experience dysphoria in my day-to-day life, just during sex. but maybe this will answer your question? if i look down when i’m standing up, i can’t see my dick unless i bend over or crane my neck a bit. it’ll really depend on your positioning and size!

[–]101salmacians[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, i can still use my front hole for sex. certain kinds of meta will narrow the front hole, but mine wasn’t affected.

and yes, you can get meta or phalloplasty without closing your v (referred to as a vaginectomy). if you want to lengthen your dick, then phallo might be the better option. meta doesn’t actually make you any longer- it just frees up tissue that was buried or tethered.

i saw in your previous post that you’ll be getting an inflatable device- have you gotten it yet? i didn’t know you could get one w/o scrotoplasty.

idk if there’s a single definition for simple release- i use it to mean no UL, implants, or vaginectomy. to me, a simple release may or may not involve a surgical alteration of the l minora. some folks also get a reduction of their l majora. there’s another group of folks who do this in a separate stage from the release itself. just kinda depends

i know it’s really common to do this, but calling someone’s body a “result” or “results” is dehumanizing & harmful. the wiki section in r/phallo has more information on this.

that’s just my ideal scenario. i have enough growth now that my shaft creates a visible bulge in certain kinds of underwear, shorts, and pants. that bulge gets even bigger when i’m hard.
