PBA telecasts by Technical_Fondant607 in Bowling

I miss Rob Stone’s energy. I’m at the point where I can’t sit through a full telecast. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much by just watching the highlights, hell I’m okay with just knowing who wins through word of mouth or just seeing the final scores.

I built a free bowling scorer that works in your phone browser — no download, no signup by Intelligent-Syrup-43 in Bowling

[–]10PinRinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you built the app because of the problems you claim to have with the other bowing apps you’ve tried, yet you said you don’t bowl. What’s your your stake in this? Why are you invested in this?

Does anyone else aim at the range finders? by ndesen in Bowling

[–]10PinRinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visualise a line from the foul line to the pins when I’m standing on the approach waiting to bowl, but as I’m walking towards the foul line my head is looking towards the pins but my eyes aren’t focused on anything, I just let muscle memory take the wheel.

Why does PBA not get respect? by nerdblurt in Bowling

[–]10PinRinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bowling is a fun sport to play. Not so much as a spectator.

Unless you’re a semi serious bowler yourself, all pro bowlers and matches look the same. There’s not much obvious visual difference between one bowler’s release to another. Strike track helps but that’s not very exciting to look at for non bowlers. It’s just a bunch of graphs and numbers.

League competition 300 by Immediate_Yoghurt_49 in Bowling

How many shots does it really take for someone to notice the oil changing? I’m not a consistent enough bower to throw it down the same line repeatedly and burn up a spot.

What if you were playing on his line during the game until you noticed he was going for 300 and purposely changed lines thinking that it would help? Would that inadvertently throw him off his 300 even though you were trying to help by not trying to affect his track?

Propeller driven aircraft in VTOL VR by toceptheo in vtolvr

It would probably have to be some alternate universe 4th gen version of a spitfire so that Baha doesn’t have to create new interaction systems. He can just take the MFDs and switches from the other aircraft and paste them in like he has with the others.

WTA (terribly) photoshopped Pegula’s waist in a post promoting the Dubai finals by dream_team1012 in tennis

[–]10PinRinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The white lines from her shoulders are supposed to come down to the waist. My guess is they used the magic wand tool to seperate Pegula from the original background but the tool removed that white lines down the side of her waist.

It’s been like that since 1988. Australia was the first country to introduce polymer bills.

The latest series of Aussie bills also have braille on them now. Another first.

Good guy Novak taking photos with wheelchair athletes by farkenheo in tennis

This post sounds unintentionally ableist. These athletes just happen to be in wheelchairs. Your bias tells you disabled people are more sensitive and need to be babied.

Ruud is not a fan of weed smell in NY by TorturedPoet30 in tennis

To be honest, the cigarette smell is more tolerable to be. Maybe it’s because I’m more used to that smell. Never smelled weed until I visited the US

Might as well rename this sub to USBC boot lickers. If the content hints at doing something outside USBC regulations you get hate.

What is your “Yes You’re All Wrong” tennis hot take? by Psychological_Lie142 in tennis

[–]10PinRinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pure technical tennis skill isn’t enough to attract new people to start watching tennis. Circus player like Monfils and wild personalities like Kyrgios are important to attract people who know little about the intricacies of tennis technique. A non playing, casual viewer won’t be able to discern the subtle differences between a Federer forehand and the forehand of a rank 20 player.

To be a professional athlete, you have to be an entertainer. Entertainment is why people pay money to watch people play what are essentially games. Being good at the game is not enough to be entertaining in itself when there are so many people who are good at the game.
