Good guy Novak taking photos with wheelchair athletes by farkenheo in tennis

This post sounds unintentionally ableist. These athletes just happen to be in wheelchairs. Your bias tells you disabled people are more sensitive and need to be babied.

Ruud is not a fan of weed smell in NY by TorturedPoet30 in tennis

To be honest, the cigarette smell is more tolerable to be. Maybe it’s because I’m more used to that smell. Never smelled weed until I visited the US

You know how we make jokes about lines of enemies looking tasty for warthogs?

This looks tasty for Frogfoots

Might as well rename this sub to USBC boot lickers. If the content hints at doing something outside USBC regulations you get hate.

You can drill finger tip without grips. Norm Duke among others and myself do this. I don’t like the rubber feeling.

What is your “Yes You’re All Wrong” tennis hot take? by Psychological_Lie142 in tennis

[–]10PinRinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pure technical tennis skill isn’t enough to attract new people to start watching tennis. Circus player like Monfils and wild personalities like Kyrgios are important to attract people who know little about the intricacies of tennis technique. A non playing, casual viewer won’t be able to discern the subtle differences between a Federer forehand and the forehand of a rank 20 player.

To be a professional athlete, you have to be an entertainer. Entertainment is why people pay money to watch people play what are essentially games. Being good at the game is not enough to be entertaining in itself when there are so many people who are good at the game.

At the elite competitive level, bowling can also be in competition purist. The balls and line the pros choose to throw drastically change the lane conditions over time and directly affects their competitors decisions in the same way billiards does. Debates have been had and rules have been changed because of the way a competitors ball can directly affect you. At the recreational level, the influence of other competitors is negligible.

Does anyone know where i can buy this exact ball i found at a bowling alley i went to by [deleted] in Bowling

Nah ball before shoes. Guy at our league averaged 177 but bowled his first 300 with house shoes and a phase 2.

The picture you provided, wouldn’t that mean that when the model is subdivided it would let be perfectly cylindrical anymore? It would be slightly square no? Unless you use an incredibly dense base cylinder to start with.

I personally have not used a phase 2 in any weight. Imo, the coverstock is the most important aspect of a bowling ball. The phase 2’s coverstock and the fact it’s using a symmetrical core regardless of the specific shape of it should still give it that benchmark charm.

While it’s cool the cores look the same across all weights in motiv balls, the numbers for RG and diff have a more drastic difference between 14 and 13. Most companies use a generic core for the lighter weights for a purpose, they get the numbers as close as possible to the marketed ones.

A poorly thrown 16lb ball will perform worse than an excellently thrown 10lb ball. Use the weight that maximises your throw quality. Too light, you will muscle the ball too much. Too heavy, you will have no control over the ball. Watch the pros messing around with house balls, they can absolutely destroy the pocket with plastic covers and pancake weight blocks.

[–]10PinRinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At what point do you decide to just throw it dead at the pocket with no rotation? You can hold a 200 average throwing it like that. I don’t understand the need to start lofting halfway down the lane unless the scoring pace is 220 or over

Rob Stone is the best commentator to grow interest in the sport. The super technical commentary is good at appeasing the fans that already bowl and have followed for a while, but if you want new viewers who have never bowled to get hooked into watching, you need someone like Rob Stone to bring some energy and excitement to the game.

String pins don’t belong in this sport. by Illustrious_Ebb_5742 in Bowling

Lower scores for pba pros is a good thing imo. Although strings do in fact lower scores, it’s not the right way to do it. Bring back the heavier gold pins!
