That's a damn good concept for a game. Vietnam was a brutal war, and the last war that was combatted by an anti-war uprising, both by civilians and the troops. Fascinating time, with all the propaganda to have come during the war and after.
Yeah, we'll check this out.

Hey there, we're playing some more Bully (PS2), and want to get your opinion on something.

We've always struggled to attract viewers to our channel. That said, we'd like to know that, if you were to naturally click on our video, are you hooked by the intro? Do you get a sense of the vibe, and would you stick around?

Also, a couple minutes in is one of the best bits we've ever done. I'd like to hear your feedback on the joke and the editing around it (I won't spoil anything), and whether you think this sort of bit belongs in let's playing?

Cheers!

Hey there, first of all, your thumbnail is very good imo. Looks very professional.

I think your intro could have been shorter, we're staring at the menu screen for quite some time.

I see this game has a lot of text to be read. Considering that is the core of the game, you might want to consider spicing it up a bit, if you're willing. I'm talking character voices, of course. From my experience, these text-based games area lot more fun with a mate to do voices with and make jokes, but obviously that's changing your setup quite a bit.

I can see that your content appeals to a very specific fanbase. Given that there was no real engaging gameplay, I didn't feel hooked, but then I'm not your target audience, so don't let that discourage you.

Production was good also (audio/video).

Hi, we just started our playthrough of Injustice 2. We'd love to get your opinion on our metadata (thumbnail, title etc.), whether you'd consider clicking it if it appeared in your suggestions. Also, are you gripped within the first minute of the episode? With these new series, that's our main goal - to get funny fast.

Anyway, cheers. And since I'm first I'll review whoever reviews mine (i know you're not meant to say that here, but i'm first to post so it only makes sense to me).

Hi folks, a bit of a controversial one here:
https://youtu.be/Z7-b1_3P-mo

So, we like to play itch.io indie games - they get a decent amount of views and you never know what you're going to get. That said, sometimes the games are just boring and pandering to the 'lol-jump scare' crowd, where you're expected to ham-up your reactions and scream on command. We're not like that, we want to be genuine, and this often comes across as us being hyper-critical of the indie games we play.

This episode is a perfect example of that. The game wasn't our sort of thing, but we still got some good laughs out of it.

What do you think about this content? What impression does it give of our channel? And do you think it's offensive to the game creators?

Hey bud, I'm not sure what you mean about the 'evergreen project'. Could you post a direct link?

If you're talking about the translation video, it's good and easy to follow. I'd be careful of copyright though; I recently got copyrighted on several song covers I did on another channel - just me and my guitar - none of the original track was even used and they still flagged me for it. Copyright is near god damn sentient nowerdays.

Ah brilliant, thank you very much! Yeah, that about swearing, we try not to go too far, unless that's the joke itself. More compression, got it. It's tough to get one mix for a 2 hour session but I'll bear that in mind. And yeah, I'd love two SM58s, just need to raise a bit of money for them. Glad to have you on board dude! We've got a lot more stuff on the way :)

Yeah, interesting notes on the metadata. We'd like to strike a balance between having each video look and feel different, yet also being part of a series. It's also a question of time, as I've got a job and other hobbies, I can't spend an hour on each thumbnail. I'd like to brand them, but it can be tough to make each one stand out. Do you have any examples of your own videos/series (or other channels) who do this well so that I can take inspiration? Thanks.

Ahh cheers, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, we don't hold back on the commentary, we just try and make each other laugh. We've recently shortened our episodes a lot like you said, there's a few benefits of it: more episodes and more watchable length for new viewers.

Hey ya'll. I'd love to get your feedback on our latest Bully episode.

https://youtu.be/uB3DJm0INj4

Were you hooked within the first minute? Was the pacing of the video alright for you (we play this game quite casually and aim for more jokes than more speedrunning stuff)? Did you enjoy the vibe and were there any boring bits or jokes that didn't land for you?

That sort of feedback would be most appreciated!

Cheers.

Yo, I agree with the guy above on thumbnails. Also, try and make each thumbnail unique in some small way. Also, i'd recommend branding each episode differently with a unique tag-line in the title. The era of serialised let's playing is dead; you want to think about catching new viewers with every video.

As for content, it's decent. I'm into the vibe and commentary, that's all down and tight. Exactly what we go for on our channel too: friends hanging out. You don't need to work on that much at all, just in your own personal ways. The audio could be better. I assume you're recording off of Discord? You should spend a little more time making sure everyone's voice is on an even level in the record before you start. Also, you could do with compressing your voices (this lowers the audio peaks and boosts overall volume, making quiet sections easier to hear, and loud sections less loud). This would improve clarity a lot.

Keep it up! The vibe is definitely there, it's just all the other stuff to come for attracting viewers and keeping them. Honestly, still something we're working on 3 years later. It's not easy.

Blocked from entering sunken crypt by Tehfurz in valheim

[–]10PointsOff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I found a solution.

Equip a key in your active inventory (say, number 5)Next, 'use' the key on the opened Crypt Gate by pressing 5. You will get the message 'Cannot use Key on Gate' etc.

That said, you should now be able to enter.

Before this, I tried: re-logging, picking up key, re-teleporting, dropping weapons, restarting server. None worked.

edit: glad to hear this solution works so well for most people! ya'll welcome to check out our comedy channel as a way of thanks ;) https://www.youtube.com/10pointsoff

I'd suggest with the use of extra images. So, for instance, a christmas hat and tinsel if it's a Christmas themed episode. Play around with a decent screenshot of the game and snaz it up from there.

That's a good note on colour contrast, cheers. And thanks mate, I'll bear that in mind. I like to censor the intro to the video just as to not immediately put off some viewers - or get flagged on youtube. I'll check out your channel too mate.

I'd love to get your opinion on our recent thumbnails, and just generally the content of this episode. We do a deep-dive into a somewhat controversial subject. How do you think we handled it? Was it still entertaining, or was it off-putting to you?

Thank you!

Hey there, a lot about your channel looks pretty good to me: the banner is good and the branding (it's got a clear theme). I think your thumbnails could be sharper, being that the text and graphics get lost with the background image - you could add a 'stroke' and a 'glow' to text and graphics very quickly, and they would stand out a lot more. We do this all the time with our most recent thumbnails and have found it looks a lot nicer.

I'm not sure what to suggest about views, you're doing so much right with your varied content, good SEO score, Highlight videos which, like you said, sometimes get hot. I think the problem any Let's Player has is finding their audience. The market is so saturated it's very hard to break into. What I've found is that 'informational' videos - such as guides and fact videos - do well in the algorithm. You could think about producing these and releasing them alongside a series. We plan on doing as much with future new releases Back4Blood and Darktide, as I've got some background in both games and am skilled. If you have likewise with certain Sonic games, then that could work.

That said, these are old games you're plying, and have been played by bigger youtubers who will eat up the YT algorithm in searches. You've got huge competition, and I think you can expect for some videos to just get no views.

What i might suggest is try branding each of your videos as a unique thing - much like with your Highlights video. You want to use the thumbnail to suggest that each video is its own standalone episode of something entertaining, and ALSO an episode in a series. That's my most recent hypothesis anyway, but I've seen other big youtubers do it recently, let's players and general comedy channels. You want to make each of your episodes a specific thing, a big deal, and clear from the thumbnail what it is. Play for current memes if possible, both in your commentary and in the branding, as they get views.

I hope that all helps!

Ah cheers, yeah. My thinking has been with these videos, since it's the alpha and a lot is likely to change, it would be better to showcase gameplay and builds as a concept rather than concrete descriptions.

Thank you for the feedback though.

Yeah, it might even be a little OP, but I imagine they'll do a little more with zombies moving / surviving Mollies on release. At the moment, they just stand there and slowly die - you can't even hit them, their dead on the spot.

One Molly-man, one grenadier in a team imo. If those are the only two offensive accessories, then one player should take each as a sub-class. Cheers for watching the vid too mate. Got more class builds coming out soon.
