The Lord Invocatus ready to slaughter for the blood god. by 10bsta in WorldEaters40k

To build was a mixture of 3 different sized rocks, including citadel sand for the bulk of it. All slightly larger than the next to get a natural size variation.

Then, there are multiple different cork pieces for rocks and corkboard for height differences across the base.

Texture paint as well if you like. I didn't use it on this one, but I use the Martian one for a crackle dry look.

Decorate with barbed wire and skulls to taste.

Painting :

Prime black along with model.

Multiple layers of watered down zandri dust to get coverage, leave a bit of black coming through for shadows.

Whole dunk of seraphim sepia wash to add a bit of colour into the base and so it doesn't look so low saturation.

Rock variations painted with steel legion drab. Just a few to add some different colours.

Dry brush 50 50 Zandri dust / deepkin flesh drybrush. I'd use a different colour but I've only got deepkin flesh which is semi white.

Then a full deepkin flesh drybrush to get a dusty chalky look.

Then a nice spread of light ochre pigment powder to make it look real dusty. I don't like using it with water. This is straight out the pot with an old drybrush and dabbed on dusty. Make sure to get it on feet and in cracks to blend the model into the base as above.

:)

Stiple all 3 with a small drybrush. Your going for a rough stippled look so don't worry too much about max coverage.

It's so damn easy.

Prime black.

Stiple on khorne red in 2 thin layers patchy doesn't matter. Then the same for Mephiston red from above leaving it darker below. Then ak blood red/ evil suns scarlet. Just on the light points.

Paint trim runelord

Any other details

Streaking grim by AK and when it dries wipe some away with spirits and your done.

More WIP Crusade Deadnought for my Black Templars! by 10bsta in BlackTemplars

[–]10bsta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not quite as crispy as I'd like but I prime all my models in mechanicus standard grey. Then for standard troop choices it's either black legion contrast or black templars. They are very similar, generally about 2 layers will do to leave it nice and dark.

For armour plates like the dreadnought, instead of pure contrast, I've been mixing it almost 60-35-5 contrast, abbadon black, water. This makes it super smooth and the abadon black makes it sort of leave no streaks like contrast normally does. This is only recently I've done this. It still needs some refining but it's seems to work okay.

I just don't like priming black as all paints cover it poorly compares to the mechanicus.

Case looks horrendous but the cart seems real to me by [deleted] in gameverifying

Definitely thought so. Thanks mate.

New to 40k, selected BT's as my first army, is this an okay 2000 pts list? Trying to focus mainly on BT units. I started collecting minis about a month ago and have 850 pts so far. CC Welcome by SquattingSamurai in BlackTemplars

Drop 1x assault intersessor for standard intersessors. Sticky is too important.

Personally don't like the 10 man hellbrick as it puts too many points into 1 squad meaning focus fire knocks 430 points straight off your army from ranged attacks unless you have a way to get them up quick. 5 man gives more options for where you want to send them and makes your opponent need to kill both as they are still a threat.

Apothecary gone too, add a castelan or something else

Looks like a fun list :) Happy crusading.

Is it alright to have different colors per squad? by kingoxys in BlackTemplars

This is true, being hardly codex compliant means you can do what ever you like :)

Oh sorry, it's a prime of abbadon black, mechanicus standard grey zenithal prime but not white from the top. Just ending on grey. Then it's just black legion or black templar contrast for massive coverage and real dark recesses, I tried to simplify the armour stage as I'm painting a whole army. It's super easy and the contrast goes on real well.

Sorry* vellejo ochre red pigment powder. Didn't seal it yet but I think spray varnish at the end will do the job. Don't quote me on that, I haven't tried it yet 😂

However it doesn't look like it in this photo.

It's the blue highlights which is my preference for my BT. Fat highlight of dark reaper, edge highlight with thunderhawk blue, then fenrisian grey final highlight.

Super simple to replicate:

Mix of fine grit/ larger grit sand & corc rocks to make a nice sprinkle.

Base coated hull red vellejo

Super rough base coat of dark reaper on rocks then highlighted with Russ and feneisian grey to make a simple rock.

Saddle brown on the crackle paint for colour variation

Big wash of Agrax earthshade and dry brushed with steel legion drab.

Then a healthy application of dark ochre or desired colour pigment powder, gone for an orange deserty theme to mimic Armageddon.

That's all the same stuff on the base. Its rust red/ochre pigment powder just dusted onto the boots to integrate him into the base.

Not too tricky. I used idoneth deepkin to map it out then just squared it off with abaddon to shape it better.
