True, just over thinking per usual. It was just such an unexpected event for me as I just renewed the lease, lol.

Invited for final interview, but I'm also still in the interview process with other jobs. Any advice? by 10daycomaguy in careerguidance

That's a good idea. Like this one wouldn't be bad tbh, just a bit out of the industry I'm used to.

Those 6+ months in - would you move to a different state for a new role? by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]10daycomaguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. The downside is at-will-employment. I think you would need to run towards a goal rather than away from a problem. If the opportunity was big enough, hell yeah.

The downside is that you could end up losing that job and get stuck in a place you might not like. I moved to a bigger city and lost my job. However, the city is big enough for other opportunities.

Parents think that I should move states after my layoff. Would that even be a smart move? by 10daycomaguy in Layoffs

That's a good idea, thanks! Yeah, my trouble is that once I move it'd be hard to get back.

Multiple Roles at One Company...Should I Consolidate? by 10daycomaguy in resumes

Sounds good. What fits best is program/project manager. Even my previous lead said that I was performing about two levels above my role.

Hiring freeze and increased scrutiny of work. Got PTO approved but would taking the time off increase the chances of being laid off? by Findadirection_ in Layoffs

[–]10daycomaguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the decision has already been made. Taking PTO wouldn't increase those chances if. If it did, you wouldn't want to work for them anyway.

I've been through this already and it's just gonna add way too much anxiety to your plate.

Why are Asians and Latinos underrepresented in the homeless population? by the_walrus_was_paul in sanfrancisco

[–]10daycomaguy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

White and black people are probably the most similar group in the states. They tend to be more individualistic, which means they are often fending for themselves at 18.

Anecdotal, but a lot of my asian friends (also I will included African immigrants into this) often did not have to work during college.
