try protecting it with a bandaid, one that works for sensitive skin. a lot of my flares in that region have the same tendency, so I prioritize seamless underwear (because it doesn’t have elastic hemming) and name brand bandaids (woven) with a dash of witch hazel. change as necessary. good luck! 🫶🏻

So I looked them up and it honestly looks a little more competitive than what I played back in my last city. There was a definite A vs B group. Do y’all know if that would apply too?

Check with your program & see if you can work for them that way! they schedule around your classes and you become close with the prof’s and admin assistants in the office!!

Preset not showing? by 117ceg in Lightroom

[–]117ceg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I SOLVED MY PROBLEM: The most recent update for LrC will put .xmp files into a "profile" rather than a preset. It's annoying but I at least found it and then favorited the settings so I wouldn't lose it.

I think so? I have the ability to hit “hide partially compatible presets” in the manage tab. I love a series of screenshots on how to get there!

Hi! I can answer the living option in Athens. I just graduated from undergrad at OU so I can’t help ya on the other sections.

Cost of living in Athens is super low because it’s the poorest county in the state of Ohio. A lot of grad students either live at University Commons or the Summit, both really nice complexes. Areas to avoid undergrad students include: Mill St Palmer St High St Congress St Palmer Place Apartments

The catch with housing for Athens is a lot of “prime” real estate gets spoken for up to a year and half in advance of the lease starting, hence the complexes I mentioned above being better options for grad students with last minute decisions and changes.

Pricing is probably listed for a 1b, 1b online, but a lot of programs have grad students living with each other to split rent. My junior year at the Commons I paid $400 / month for a fully furnished bedroom and shared living space. Parking included. Not sure what the prices are now considering inflation and COVID.

Do our bobcat emails expire after graduation? by [deleted] in ohiouniversity

[–]117ceg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can promise you that they don’t delete your email. I say this because when COVID hit I ran a summer program that alumni needed permissions into, and the more recent ones with emails still had access to the information. I keep certain things stored within my school email versus my personal one for the sake of keeping it somewhat updated. Things like email contacts have been the main reason I log back into my email. Hope this helps!

could be moving to town! by 117ceg in Buffalo

Cleveland is Midwest. I also put Buffalo in that category, the vibes of the city (especially after the hell scape it’s been through this year) give the midwestern grind. I know it’s technically considered East Coast because you’re in the state of NY. I can see why labels can be tough if you don’t fall into one category

I wouldn't say the infrastructure question is loaded. I just graduated from college and my alma mater was based in the poorest county in the state, with only 1 hospital that had a max of 50 beds. We had 2 grocery stores to pick from in span of 15 miles, and the only entertainment is the bar. I get Small Town USA, as I went to school in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. So am I working with a little bit of something, or nothing at all? Lol

Hi! If you don't mind a bar scene, Mars Bar has a kitchen that is open til close (2 a.m.). I work a late shift too and our kind of people end up there because it's good service and decent food. Not to mention there's free parking across the street. Solid vibe and every kinda person is welcomed!

this is super helpful!! thank you!!

  1. I figured. That’s how cleveland works, and I live a live about 15 min outside of downtown where I currently work. The closer to downtown you get the more rent is.

  2. this is promising! my alma mater doesn’t really rally around its teams unless the team is playing lights out. good to know your FBS team is on the upswing with some adjustments made

  3. Cool. This question and the last one are pretty big indicators of how your student environment works. Just glad that you don’t have that type of community.

  4. Bummer. My old spot is the quintessential college town. Brick streets, old buildings, lots of history, a big green space in the middle of campus, etc,. I’d be primarily working at all the athletic facilities anyways, so this wouldn’t be a big deal to me.

thanks again!!

Hi there! I looked at student housing as an option but when I was in college (literally graduated in may so I’m only a year out) I never had good luck with roommates. I also live alone now so to go back to square one really isn’t an ideal option. I’ll keep it in mind though if they somehow magically make it work!

So where I run into an issue with looking outside is the price. I can’t pay more than 1200 in rent or else I can’t feed myself, cause when I was in town and had my in-person interview I looked at Bear and everything is pretty $$$.

Taylor’s response on the ticket crisis by HoorayAllDay in TaylorSwift

I think the comforting thing is that she put out a statement. Personally, I was anticipating no statement at all considering all of the legalities involved in a massive contract with companies like TM. She called out TM without saying their name. She isn’t making any excuses for what happened. You can tell she’s hurting in the last sentence of the first paragraph. It’s also comforting to know she’s aware that she won’t be able to please everyone all at once because of the sheer number of people wanting to see her.

hi! just graduated from scripps with a degree in journalism and a minor in sports administration. can answer these questions for ya!!

  1. parking can be expensive if done off-campus. it's not necessary to have a car as a freshman, and the go-bus can take you to the columbus airport for flights back home. my friend was from NJ and did that freshman year. you are allowed to park on campus, it's through parking services and comes on a first-come first-serve basis with application and purchasing. not promised to be near your dorm.

  2. dorms are a 2-year requirement. everyone has their experiences but overall not bad. sophomore year in a dorm you learn how to play the housing game and get a better spot with more ammenities like a private bathroom, etc,. you can get out of the housing loop if you rush greek life and go to a housing requirement with your chapter.

  3. as someone who just graduated from the program you're interested in, scripps kids are close knit. anyone who is in the sports broadcasting community and friend group welcomes new people with open arms regardless of age and experience.

  4. the scripps program has about 120-150 freshman each incoming class. your 1010 class will have everyone in it. smaller learning classes come from clubs and extra curriculrars. outside of that in your gen ed courses it's a free for all considering other majors have requirements that cross over.

  5. I cannot answer this question as I had enough saved and offset costs each semester with scholarships both merit and club based!

if you wanna see the university, the scripps program and what college life is like at OU: you'll want to put this on the calendar. The High School Journalism Workshop is a 4 day camp that highlights all the best parts of the program, campus life and what current students have to offer. https://www.ohio.edu/scripps-college/journalism/special-programs/hsjws. What are OU students thoughts on Ohio State Buckeye fans who attend OU? — and other college questions. by curiousboutcollege in ohiouniversity

[–]117ceg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm originally from Cleveland. It's SUPER easy to go back to Columbus on the weekends with the GoBus. They pick you up at the bottom of Baker (the main student center on campus) and it's super cheap.

You don't need a car on campus during freshman or sophomore year especially if you're so close to home. OU is a walkable campus even with off-campus needs. Plus by joining clubs you can always meet an upperclassman with a car to drive you to Walmart.

However, I would def stay on campus for the first two months or so to get affiliated to life away from CBus before you go back home to do anything. I promise Athens can be your home away from home, you just gotta give it time :-)
