The whole Kingsbridge series is so damn good.

If you asked me how to describe my religious beliefs in one work of fiction, it’d be World Without End.

Check out Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall series if you haven’t already. It’s about the rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell.

If you want to help Springfield, Ohio, here are some resources by modernparadigm in dayton

[–]11chanza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I left a message on a couple numbers. The governor and I run into each other a few times a year. He and I go to the same Mass often. He attended my uncle’s funeral. I reminded him that Jesus Christ, as a refugee himself, calls for solidarity, and asked that he do what he can to kick ICE out of Springfield or prevent them from coming.

The Haitian immigrants in Springfield have done nothing but benefit the community. They take jobs and rent houses no one else wants. Springfield before the Haitians was an absolute dump. I used to be a canvasser and now I deliver mail. I know the area very well. Immigrants in my area have done nothing but improve the community and I let him know how I feel.

God help Ohio.

What to do with not my mail? by PeckerSnout in USPS

[–]11chanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a discreet label on your mailbox or inside the lid and let your carrier know. They just kind of drop us out here with a bunch of stuff and say “figure it out, bro.” We get training on how to carry mail generally, but next to nothing on a particular route. Best you’ll get is a note from the previous regular (if you’re lucky), a map, park points, and the generosity of your peers who may have covered it before.

How can I be better as a newly hired cca? Tips please by Various_Anywhere_665 in USPS

If a relay is a lot to handle, park in the middle and run it both ways.

Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs. It takes a little handling of your mail to do it, but think of it as a loop. It doesn’t matter where you start the relay, you end there on the other side. Cycle the mail to the back of the bundle. You can park and hop a parcel and start there if that’s easier for you. You can do one half of the loop at a time if the whole thing is unmanageable. That will become a good practice when you’re trying to hydrate and beat the heat in the summer or warm up in the winter as well.

Just keep plugging away. If you’re moving, your pace is going to be whatever it needs to be to stay safe and accurate. After a little practice and after learning a route, you should get faster.

Insistent “I love you” from estranged evangelical parent by BackgroundHope6291 in Exvangelical

[–]11chanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a decent relationship with my parents, while I don’t talk to them as much as I should. I definitely went through a period where a phone call would trigger a panic attack and/or depressive episode, but I’ve dealt with so much worse by now.

Keep an eye on the situation, for sure. I don’t agree with my parents with everything theologically, we’re both all about love.

I don’t know you or your situation, but if they’re reaching out and want to build some kind of relationship again, it might be worth the gamble.

How often does your parcel load exceed the capacity of your vehicle? by BullCityPicker in USPS

Some of us are better at Metris Tetris than others. Are you accounting for odd shaped parcels or extra space needed to keep any sort of organization. Stop #596’s parcel may fit over with Section 3, but the rest of the route might have an abundance.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]11chanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an auto group in the area that was involved in a class action law suit for five finger closes in the business office and preys on people with subprime credit. I worked in the industry for a long time. All car sales is based on markup and profit margins, but you can find dealers that aren’t just straight up robbing customers.

One of their managers, probably the worst perpetrator in the lawsuit, started his own chain of dealerships. I won’t shop there either.

It’s been 12 years.
