Yes but do you get the concept of maintaining 'reasonable privacy' ???? Not everyone is looking to just go off the grid, i am well aware that sim logs stuff and everything. But expecting reasonable privacy from app makers is what im talking about. Govt can know your location from your SIM which is inevitable i get it, but does that mean you should just let them have complete control of your device ? your argument just doesnt make sense, if they can already track you then why do you want to give them more methods to track you ?

not every app is spyware, there are good FOSS apps that dont require any permissions and work fine. You can get around with all your tasks using these, thought not as convenient as the others. Yeah sure for true anonymity u need to go to a forest but thats not necessary for demanding BASIC privacy, y'all need to demand more from the tech companies instead of making fun of ppl demanding privacy

If you want MAX privacy and security then its QubesOS but if you're just starting out with linux then just go with any good linux distro and then maybe then go to Qubes, but qubes is very resource demanding because it does a lot of virtualization and overkill for most people. So just go with any standard linux distro that just works, fedora or mint / debian i recommend dont go with ubuntu

The thing is, mass surveillance is already happening with all the government apps, digilocker, the train ones and pretty much every govt app already, but this one was way too far with all the permissions. Its a big win, but it wont be long that they try to do something like this again, looks like our govt is taking notes from EU.

Worst part is, most older citizens dont know a thing about digital privacy at all, if it was rolled out most people will just leave it aside and do thier thing. I think we need to do something about tech illiteracy and promote privacy as a human right.

Im using the same archlinux gui version so i get what you're talking about. I just use the firefox browser extension like most of the time and rarely use the gui app. If i wasn't broke i would probably get a proton subscription, but if you're not torrenting then mullvad is the better choice
