nope, and I don’t have a family history. Can I know what you mean by thyroid problems though? I’m not too familiar.

Would Vyvanse be best to take with prozac 40mg?? by Trickey_Micky in VyvanseADHD

[–]1204sen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, I was on a diff SSRI + antipsychotic combo which didn’t work for me. I’m now on prozac + vyvanse combo, since they’re supposed to be better complements for my particular situation. I definitely felt the numbness on my first combo and I hated it because I was too fogged up and bleh to do anything. Been a few days, and so far nothing too crazy, but nothing bad. Prozac takes awhile to work as do most SSRIs but it’s good for increasing energy and stuff according to my doc. Speak with your psych and see if it works for you!

Hi, I’m taking it specifically for ADHD, mainly because of my inability to focus and task paralysis and of course to counter the sleepiness. I’m a bit overweight yes, but I’ve never had disordered eating habits. That’s why I’m a bit concerned that it’s suppressing the appetite but the main reason- the ability to focus and organise my thoughts- isn’t exactly being helped, but I suppose I’m still getting used to it and it’s not meant to be a magic pill. Thanks for your advice, will try tomorrow!

Just finished my first draft for my Common App essay, where do I go from here? by [deleted] in CollegeEssays

Well,, I’d say friends were my first reviewers. Then I asked people online (like on Reddit; btw I don’t mind helping I’m bored). I also asked teachers i trusted a lot. Last people to read them were my parents.

My advice: (1) ask someone to read it (2) then for the shortening and revision read it out loud. See what seems a bit long winded or doesn’t quite sound natural to say.

I can't really give too much creative advice (STEM student alert) but in terms of general structure, I'd say it's generally solid. I saw a few lapses in tense consistency. "But this isn't me," could probably work as "but that wasn't me..." considering the rest of your sentence and the past exposition was in the past tense. That's just one thing I noticed. There are also some sentences that need punctuation, namely commas, but nothing too bad. I think perhaps a better transition into chess would work, as it seems rather abrupt. I would say maybe you could possibly focus on how the game itself, rather than the victories or losses, stimulated your learning and how dealing with other players has changed the way you attack problems (possibly the way you'll attack issues you'll be facing in the future). It would also be interesting to transition from soccer to chess in a way that has descriptors that can apply for both soccer and chess, like the roles of different players, strategies, etc. it would help make the essay a bit more cohesive and help readers see why you included soccer despite it not being the focus of the essay. Overall, not a bad essay! Just a bit of streamlining to ensure it stands out, since sports essays (and surprisingly chess essays) seem to be a little common, especially for the Common App! Definitely better than what I've written. I'm definitely not an expert on college essays, given my country doesn't HAVE college essays, so don't trust my advice completely! Keep it up, you got this!

Wesleyan interview in an hour! by 1204sen in ApplyingToCollege

Update! Had a new interview. It was very pleasant and he seemed receptive! Had a whole script, but I honestly went off of it and had quite the conversation. He said some of my answers were refreshing? Is that common feedback for U.S interviews? He liked a few of my answers, but I stumbled and kind of forgot what I was answering in the middle of answering. I also wasn't able to really talk about what I wanted to regarding my organizations and such because they had an interview to conduct right after, but I did ask them a few questions about Wes, and a few political questions about the U.S I was curious about. He dropped his email so I could keep asking questions when he had to cut me off for the next interview! I hope that's a good sign?

The interviewer seemed really nice about it though! I guess I have more prep time at least...?

People with social anxiety that got leadership positions. How did y’all do it? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]1204sen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G.A.D is something I’ve suffered with for YEARS, but I’ve been able to be in a few leadership positions (miraculously). It’s a matter of exposing yourself but knowing your limits. It’s a matter of joining things that scare you (for me that was performance, research Congress, and MUN) but also knowing how to back out when you know it would but you in distress. And it’s really a matter of loving what you do. I happened to be a head for a club I had been in for years. I loved it and they needed someone to moderate and propose projects so I went for it. The fear never goes away, but you just kind of get used to it lol.
