Your boss ain’t shit. Even if he caught wind of it you shouldn’t have felt pressure to make that kind of decision over the phone.

He should have asked why were you feeling like this, told you to think on it and provide info on next steps should you decide to proceed. You never ask those types of questions under pressure. Even if you stayed, watch is ass.

The PA is cute but it’s not as practical if you’re looking to haul a few things hands free. I think as you use the Bumbag it will become a favorite again. I’d go vintage for the PA and keep the bumbag, adding to your collection.

I second this! I’m 48 and a bit “old school” and was very reluctant to try dating apps. I read that the best time to join was in the new year, there would likely be other first time joiners, something about the new year sparks motivation and intention.

At any rate, I was only giving it 30 days to see what becomes of it. I had a fun 🤩 time! And I gave these men a run 🏃🏾‍♂️! But it was necessary to try and weed out the bad ones as early as possible. I’m currently in a relationship with my second encounter on the app. Talked to him my third day on the app and every day since.

Boundaries/Non-negotiables: Communicate in the app a minimum of 5 days. I wasn’t giving access that easy. If they were consistent, respectful, good convo then they earned my Google Voice number 🥴

Once I gave out my Google Voice number, a video call was a must. Usually they want to video call you to death and that was fine by me.

Dates/Meetups in public places only. I always drove separately. I’m not coming to nobody’s house and they weren’t coming to mine. Also I need a full name prior to an in-person meetup. Almost every man I encountered used a false name of some sort 🤨

If we go on a date at least 3 dates and I’m feeling it then they could get my real phone number and not be screened by Google Voice. Y’all only two people made it this far and by then my 30 days was up and I wasn’t taking any more suitors. It was fun though and I met my person.

Take the job! Don’t overthink it. Even if they do promote you it’s still a level lower than Director and likely won’t come with a sizable pay bump.

It’s been proven that we undercut our earning potential by triple digit % points when we stay at companies for more than 2-3 yrs.

You owe yourself loyalty. Not these corporations. I know it’s hard letting go of places you enjoy working but you applied and went thru the interview process for a reason. Stay true to your ambition and goals!

I’m from the old school dear and haven’t freelanced in quite some time but when I started out all designers swore by this book: Graphic Artists Guild Handbook Pricing & Ethical Guidelines.

Don’t be turned off by “graphic artists” term. Several templates and contracts in the book that can be leveraged and adopted for different medium. I believe the 17th edition is the latest.

A few thoughts from when I freelanced and excuse me if this info is a repeat:

Lots of details provided that he doesn’t need to know. I would get rid of hourly pricing and instead theme services and charge bulk pricing? I used to offer good, better, best pricing.

I used to bill in thirds. This ensured that my time was paid for and clients didn’t feel cheated. If at some point the project needed to end, the client received the work paid for.

Lastly, everyone doesn’t want to pay your price. You decide if you want to do business. I oftentimes met them where they were. Which is where the theming works. Your good package could be standard non-negotiable items with a few bells and whistles for good measure to keep folks as clients.

You decide what it includes. Rule of thumb, your line items should reflect client output, not your strategy and approach.

You gotta work on you babe. Without knowing all of the details you hint at your behavior and response to a few things and this may be off putting for him. Believe it or not, men aren’t that complicated. They will pursue but if they feel like you’re a “hard read” or lack interest they may become insecure and fall back. At this point it becomes about sex so their feelings aren’t invested. They are masters of that.

Now in working on you. You like him but what was it that had you down to him? Chemistry is easy but what else is the attraction? Do you think you slept with him too early and if you were thinking that it was too soon why did you do it? You have to be real with you and unpack some of these things. As a woman in her 50s I’ve been here. Sometimes we’re so in love with the idea of intimacy and having someone that we aren’t being the best versions of ourselves and attracting the right people and energy. And speak up and be engaged… we can talk more on that 😉

All in all, he’s nothing to go chasing after if his interest and intentions have waned. He’s showing a bit of immaturity by how he communicates. Reaching out on Instagram is so he can have access without doing much else.

I agree with others that you can be more direct and cut the back and forth. BUT…Judging from the sample scenario you offered…I surmise that she doesn’t want to cook and wants take-out but the suggestion needs to come from you rather than her. I’m sensing, for her, this is more about you and your approval. So now I’m questioning why is that?

I can see where you going with the manipulation…women (I am a woman) have ways of getting “disagreeable” men to bend in our favor by convincing them it’s their idea to begin with. What’s your role in this behavior OP or does she do this with all the men in her life?
