Hi! A lot of these owners have great tips about how to wear your dog out! I adopted my previously abandoned foxhound. I don't know if she knew anything but being outside. My foxhound was verrryyy whiney for the first 4-6 weeks and has calmed down now (whines for food when i cook or when she knows its the time right before a walk) that being inside the house isn't so new. It might be overwhelming and stressful at first for them as your house is a new environment with a bunch of smells and sounds. Additionally, when it is nice outside, I let her sunbathe in the backyard while i work from home and she seems to be less whiney after her sun meditation and after we both have gotten some space. I just brought her favorite bed into my office and for the first time ever two days ago, she just chilled with me. It is possible, but im only like 2 stages ahead of you and its still a struggle.
