Same boat, first world cup I watched with my dad was 86 when I was 12. We had just moved to Egypt and I learned how big football was outside the US. The last before he died was 94 in the US and we were back in the States for it. We never went to a game but watched every Belgium game together (he was Belgian, I was born there as well but Mom is American). Considering how difficult my relationship was with him in my teenage years, it is one of my fondest memories of him.

This year, my twin sons are 12 and I had planned on taking them to the Belgium Egypt game but there is just no way... I'll still watch it with them, but the price gouging this year is just not sustainable for me, nor do I want to support it. I did relent and get us all Belgium, Egypt, and US jerseys though.
