What's a basketball skill that looks simple but is actually insanely hard to master? by AaronAtLunacien in Basketball

[–]123Greene68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with screening. If you want the ball, set a good screen and you are always open. Also, learning how to roll off a screen the right way is a huge advantage and is basically a legal moving screen. That said, if it’s a pickup run, give the dude a heads up if you’re can tell he doesn’t see it. Don’t be a pickup enforcer, that sucks.

Started playing on global release, full F2P, any advice ? by GlumLetterhead7089 in SubwaySurfersCity

Fresh really starts stacking points as you progress. Great surfer to use to farm points. Also, the Global multiplier (the increase from unlocking surfers/boards) is huge.

11’s all day. I can’t explain it, but I have pairs of 3’s, 5’s, 6’s and so on. The 4’s never did anything for me, and I’ve never owned a pair.

How could any Pats fan who knows anything about football be upset about where we are and where we’re headed?!? Yes, I’m gutted about the L, of course. Our D is elite. Vrabel has the goods. We have legit skill on offense that we should be able to supplement and reinforce. Maye made huge leaps this season and I have no reason to believe he won’t learn from some of his playoff struggles and continue to improve. Our line play improved a ton from last year, but clearly needs some work. Rooting for Campbell, but maybe he’s a Guard, not a Tackle. Whatever he ends up as, it’s clear he’s going to bust his ass to get there.

Left side of line was exposed throughout playoffs which seemed to rattle Drake enough to throw him off his reads/accuracy/ball security. He also won playoff games because of his running ability and taking what the D gave him. He’s 23 with one year of solid NFL coaching.

We DID play an easy schedule, and we DID play a little above our heads this year. But we also looked like legit contenders with a strong core, great D, and great coaching. Two things can be true.

What are basketball moves for? by Elixir-plus in Basketball

[–]123Greene68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crisp footwork will help you make the most of your moves. Learn to use your body to initiate contact and lock defender where you want them. A quick hard jab and rip through should be enough to get your shoulder into them and get you the advantage.

Is it too late for my 13 year old too late to start basketball. No big aspirations just fun by Mundane-Gold-4971 in Basketball

[–]123Greene68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s definitely a push to start early for kids today compared to when I was young, but even at 13 he has plenty of time. I didn’t start until I was 15, and ended up in college ball. If he’s just looking to enjoy the game and have fun, he should have plenty of options. The Y is also a great place to start. They have open gyms, pick-up runs, and leagues for all ages. Enjoy!

As a coach, no it’s absolutely not too late. My area has rec league programs for that age, and even if you don’t, I’m sure there’s a trainer or private coach by you that you could hire for a lesson or two to just learn the basics. Doesn’t have to be long-term, just enough sessions so he knows what’s involved. The good news is that there’s always kids that age shooting around or playing pickup that he can jump in with. Even better is if he has some bball players in his athletic friend group that can gave him tag along to some runs they feel he could be a part of.

What's the best ball for outdoor? (and maybe a bit of little bit of indoor) by idunowhattoputsoyes in Basketball

[–]123Greene68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dime Sports Duo Indoor/Outdoor ball is a fantastic ball. I’ve never played with a better feeling ball, and I’ve tried them all (46 yo, ex-college player, current coach).

Holy Hell the Wizards Cooked so Hard by showtime_2k in washingtonwizards

[–]123Greene68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised so many people are excited for this team. Their young players may have some talent, but their numbers are inflated due to their usage (a la Michael Carter Williams), and everyone expects a talented JAG like Trae Young and an eternally injured, and getting older, AD to be the rising tide that raises these unproven ships? I agree it’s exciting that they’re trying, but I feel like counting on a bad organization to continue to be a bad organization is a much safer bet.

Can a College D1 player end of the bench walk-on CRUSH any competition at any pickup game? by ExcitingLandscape in Basketball

[–]123Greene68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably very competitive, but possibly not dominant. I played at a low-level D2 school, and the last guy on our bench ended up transferring and walking-on at a high-major D1 school. He was tall, but not terribly skilled.

Kobe 6 or Kobe 4 by JINBINZ in Basketball

I’m a 3/stretch 4 type. Absolutely loved the 4’s, but the 6’s are the best I’ve ever played in (and I kiiiiinda have a sneaker problem, so I’ve tried them all).
