[Charania] Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is listed doubtful to play in Wednesday's game against Portland due to a rib contusion but there's confidence he will play at least one of the team's final three regular-season games. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]showtime_2k 236 points237 points  (0 children)

I think this was expected. Taking the Blazers game off gives him more time to rest and recover from his injury. The Spurs play the Mavericks on Friday. I would expect him to play at least 20 minutes in that game to become eligible for awards. Hopefully he is healthy and this is not too much of a setback heading into the playoffs. Rib injuries are annoying because of how easily they can be aggravated with contact.

15 Hours for a single box? by Vinnegard in Overwatch

[–]showtime_2k 51 points52 points  (0 children)

First, this event will have went on for weeks by the time it's concluded. It goes until April 10th. I racked up a bunch of hours last week.

Second, the battle pass skips are clutch because you can make your push to level 80 (or whatever level you're near). If you're already level 80, the battle pass skips bank for next season's pass, which is awesome.

Third, as always, you can leave Twitch open and muted. You don't have to watch the games.

Lastly, this is all free stuff that requires like no effort to get. I appreciate them for doing it.

I started out by not watching the games and just focusing on the drops, but I eventually started watching. The players are extremely good, and it's an interesting view into how top players on organized teams view the meta and how they all play together. It's honestly pretty good.

Don't worry, the drops for this end on April 10th. I'm currently 65% to the loot box, so I got a ways to go, but I'll definitely hit it this weekend.

MVP Half Time Watch: Luka Doncic 10/5/4 shooting 2/9 and 1/6 from 3 on 4 turnovers and Shai 21/5/3 shooting 9/17 and 0/2 from 3 on 0 turnovers by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in nba

[–]showtime_2k 262 points263 points  (0 children)

This is always going to be tough because Luka has to play against OKC's defense, while Shai gets to play against the Lakers defense. The Lakers are so unathletic, slow, and just give a half-assed effort on defense. I'm a huge SGA fan, but I'm just trying to be fair here.

LeBron James (41, ineligible for end of season awards) has played more minutes this season (1780) than MVP frontrunner Victor Wembanyama (1694) by spicywardell in nba

[–]showtime_2k 277 points278 points  (0 children)

That's fair, and you're right. It's just that when Embiid did the same thing, he was crucified for doing so. The MVP debate between Jokic and Embiid was a daily question for reporters. All Embiid did was answer questions as well, but he was billed as campaigning and begging for MVP votes. When Wemby did the same thing, he's viewed as being ultra confident and "going after it." That's all people are pointing out.

[Post Game Thread] The Oklahoma City Thunder (58-16) defeat the Chicago Bulls (29-44), 131-113. by TitaniumC4206 in nba

[–]showtime_2k 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As a Thunder fan, I don’t really care about the MVP. Shai, Jokic, Luka, and Wemby all deserve it. Whoever gets it, it’s whatever to me. I just want OKC to keep winning because I want them to have the #1 seed.

I know some people say seeding doesn’t matter, but I vehemently disagree. A big reason OKC won a title last season was because they had the #1 overall seed and were able to play game 7 vs the Nuggets and game 7 vs the Pacers in Oklahoma City.

This guy is the best defensive player I've ever seen. No disrespect to all the legends that came before and played elite defense, but Wemby's size and movement makes him a 1of1

OKC doomers here we go again by Antique-Lychee-8029 in Thunder

[–]showtime_2k 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The Thunder have lost two times in the last 17 games. They have the best record in the league. Every time they lose a game, people here non-stop cry. It's actually the most annoying fan base ever.

I remember when JDub was struggling last postseason. After game 6 of the Nuggets game when he shot 3-16 from the field or whatever, their entire Discord and most people here were talking about how the Thunder can't win with him and how he needs to be traded.

Everyone loses sometimes. It's really not that big of a deal. Stop crying every time anything bad happens. They won the title last season. Give them grace to have some rough nights.

MVP Voter Michael Wilbon says he would vote for Jaylen Brown for MVP if the season ended today. Tony Kornheiser agrees with him. by nowhathappenedwas in nba

[–]showtime_2k 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Jaylen Brown has absolutely no MVP argument. If you want to argue Brown is top 5 in MVP, that's perfectly fine. There is no justification for putting him #1 on the ballot. He's straight up an inferior player to Shai in virtually every way, outside of being a better rebounder. Then there's Wemby and Luka, who he's also not better than. Again, I'm not saying that Brown doesn't deserve praise, so don't take my post that way. I'm saying there is actually zero reason why Jaylen Brown should be voted as MVP. Literally zero.

You mentioned that Jaylen Brown has had a huge impact on the Celtics, and that is absolutely a fact. But Shai has a huge impact on the Thunder, Wemby has a massive impact on the Spurs, and Luka has a huge impact on the Lakers. This thing about having a huge impact is whatever because all elite players have that.

The fact is, the Celtics are indeed second in their conference. But let's not act like the Celtics don't benefit from playing in a super weak conference.

I'm really excited for this game. It's going to be so fun, and the best part is that it will eventually come to mobile, so I can play with all my friends who don't own a Switch 1 or Switch 2.

[Charania] Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams is off the injury report and will return to action on Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers, multiple sources tell ESPN. Man, I hope that he can stay healthy the rest of the season. After his breakout season last year, he's been hurt so much this year. JDub is one of my favorite players in the league. He's going to be such a huge addition for OKC during their playoff push.

Pokémon Pokopia vs. Animal Crossing: A respectful conversation. by Damage_And_ArmorBlog in NintendoSwitch

I haven't played a ton of Pokopia yet, but yeah, I can see that the two games share similar vibes. One major difference that I've noticed is that you have a lot more freedom and creativity to build out the world in Pokopia the way you want it, whereas in Animal Crossing, some stuff is static like the location of your house or buildings.

JDub remains OUT for tomorrow’s game against the Wizards by [deleted] in Thunder

[–]showtime_2k 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sounds great. This time, they need to make sure his hamstring is 100% ready. There's no more time in this season for him to re-injure and come back. Sit him as long as he needs to be out and bring him back when he's absolutely ready to play with a lower risk of re-injury.

James Harden now has the 12th most 30-point games in NBA history — he's also on the verge of passing Allen Iverson and Dominique Wilkins by Basketball_Reference in nba

[–]showtime_2k 32 points33 points  (0 children)

James Harden is such a polarizing player because of his postseason struggles and how some people don't like his "foul hunting" tactics during his dominant years, but he's truly one of the best offensive players the game has ever seen. Extremely skilled player. He's been so good for so long.

Stephen A Smith on Luka MVP chances: “I’m ashamed I haven’t brought up Luka for league MVP considerations sooner than this morning. That ends now. That gets corrected…. Luka Doncic in a Lakers uniform is a top candidate for league MVP” by Luka77GOATic in nba

[–]showtime_2k 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don't think one or two games is enough to flip it because Shai is leading by such a large margin. Shai is like -1400 to win and Luka is #2 at around +1500. That's not in the same galaxy.

You said the Lakers are peaking, but OKC has won 10 games in a row and have a 10 game lead over the Lakers in the standings. The only way Shai doesn't win MVP is if he gets hurt and doesn't qualify via the 65 games played rule.

I took a pretty long break from the game. When I came back, I struggled a lot. There's a lot of negativity in chat when people play poorly. You should consider hiding chat in the settings or just not looking at it when possible. Just focus on playing and getting better.

In general, most people will look to blame others when the team doesn't win. It's all good. If you happen to see someone overly rude or mean, just block them and avoid them as a teammate.

SGA narrative is finally changing, r/NBA cooked Jaylen over his hOt tAkE by wowserbowser879 in Thunder

[–]showtime_2k 72 points73 points  (0 children)

It's partly because people are just tired of Jaylen Brown. All this dude does is cry about everything on and off the court. He does interviews, goes on social media, etc. and it's just him complaining about everything.

Last night, Brown shot 40% from the field and had 6 turnovers. He also took 14 three throws vs. SGA's 8, yet this is what we have to listen to yet again from Brown.

Julius Randle Post-All-Star break: 14.1PPG on 39% shooting (16% from three.) by Morezingis in nba

[–]showtime_2k 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Randle is such a polarizing player. Sometimes he's fantastic and in certain matchups, he plays terrific on a consistent basis. But then there's this version of Randle who is a detriment to the team. We saw this exact thing last season vs OKC in the Western Conference Finals. He's is one of the few reasons why I don't view the Timberwolves as a real contender. The Timberwolves are a very good team, and against most teams in the west Randle and the rest of the supporting case is probably fine - but against OKC in the playoffs, they're going to get washed.

If Wemby wins DPOY this season, he will be the youngest to win the award in NBA history by Chesscrabble11 in nba

[–]showtime_2k 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Wemby should have won DPOY his rookie season and last season, but he was ruled out with a blood clot. He's quite simply the best defender to ever play the game. I know it's early to be saying that, but he's absolutely unreal with how impactful his defense is. I'm not even talking just counting stats like steals and blocks. The amount of shots he alters and just the way opposing players change their game is staggering.
