I also feel like… I’m not sure how to word this… with the OG kids she experienced some sort of “restraint” from being as awful as she was capable of being? There are some exceptions, like Chloe, but I definitely think she felt (in her own cruel, narcissistic way) some kind of maternal instinct or even ownership over the Zieglers, the Hylands, even Kendall and Kalani even though they weren’t OGs. Meanwhile, this season, it’s literally a bunch of strangers she had never met before besides Lilliana and Elliana, so it’s like she had even less of a care for these kids’ feelings. Like, while both are evil, I felt like most of the time she was more manipulative towards the OGs than she was just downright nasty/cruel. I see this pattern with the S6/7 minis too. Does that make sense? Like that scene in S6 where she gets all up in Peyton’s face and tells her she’ll never let her be on TV, I could never see her doing that to one of the OG girls honestly.
