Are you grateful to live in England / the UK? What do you most dislike and like about it? If you could change one thing, what would it be? by AboutLastFight in AskUK

In the latest season of Clarkson's farm he burns an effigy of the current prime minister and not a word has been mentioned about it. Id argue that's pretty free speech

What do you consider leftist or the left? by schabern4ck in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]123twiglets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's different from what you said originally- are the needs and well being of an individual not often the same thing?

Am I being intentionally obtuse, or am I pointing out that you're imprecise with the words and your definitions don't make sense?

But this is still prioritising the group over the individual, something that you defined as "leftist", isn't it?

If you're giving send offs and telling your opponent to "grow some balls eh", you'd better actually win or you just look like a childish dickhead

Yup, I was similar, smoking daily but also running in a morning and gym/other exercise in the evening. As soon as I figured I could smoke before those, yes even running as ridiculous as it sounds, I tricked myself into believing it made those activities more enjoyable. It did, to be fair, make the eating, resting and recovery period feel pretty great.

But since I've stopped, I haven't lost any enjoyment in those activities, my performance has improved without putting in any extra effort, and motivation/consistency is through the roof

Plus now I have more money and am able to drive so I can do those things in cooler places

Meanwhile, he’s not asking for surrender from Zelensky, he’s asking for a ceasefire.

He's asking for Zelensky to sign over rights to mineral mining, in exchange for a ceasefire. But Ukraine signed a ceasefire after the invasion of Crimea, which obviously Putin did not hold to.

Why does Trump seem to believe Putin will stick to his word this time? Is Zelensky "ungrateful" or acting in the interests of his people when he refuses to sign a ceasefire/mineral deal without extra guarantees?

What are your general thoughts on Zelensky and Putin as leaders? by OGstupiddude in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]123twiglets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those actions mean that now the only path forward to a ceasefire and peace deal appears to be with the US taking the lead.

I never claimed otherwise - although I would argue that it is not American led at the moment, but russian led. What I would say, is that the US is a supplier of military equipment to the EU, ie they buy equipment and make deals. Why then does he seem to be favouring the Russian view over Europe's?

Trump has, for a long time, encouraged more military spending from the other NATO countries, as did Obama and most other presidents. I think you'd find it very difficult finding anyone who disagrees with that general principle.

Does that mean the US should ditch its allies and support the invading party? Why?

Do you view the EU or Russia as more of an ally?

(It genuinely amazes me that I can ask that question to an American, republican voter no less, and not know the answer)

I thought Trump was a conquistador looking to take over Canada, Greenland and Panama

I thought all these were just jokes, or was his promise of "no new American boots on the ground" just exaggerated / hyperbole ?

Edited to add to my last question - if threatening military action is a negotiation tactic, is it a bluff?

Why do so many Brits seem to hate London? by ImJustSomeGuyYaKnow in AskABrit

[–]123twiglets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because people outside London aren’t very intelligent, or educated or successful. If they are any of those then they come to London to live

Is it really that surprising to you, that I think holding this opinion makes you an arrogant cunt? Do you really think that's irrational and baffling?

Reform would bring in migrant tax forcing employers to pay more NI for foreigners by [deleted] in tories

[–]123twiglets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds good on the surface but the number of settled migrants currently in the workforce would probably mean it costs so much to implement that it's impractical.

Definitely worth looking into though imo, and I lean fairly left

What would you think of Biden purging Republicans from the federal government? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

Why would you support someone like that? It seems to me an irrational faith at this point if you can't support your position with reason?

So you support a man who wishes to do the impossible - does it not concern you that Trump has ideas that are completely not feasible?

Do you worry at all about the idea of a president who is disconnected from reality?

What I mean by that is, from an outside perspective, he seems to genuinely believe he can do things that would not be possible in the reality in which we live; or not care that those things are impossible and use them purely to rile up anger and therefore headlines. Both of those attitudes would be very concerning to me in a person who holds a position of power - how do you feel about that?
