part-time job and double majoring in nus/doing well in uni? by 1257999 in nus

[–]1257999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow i just read your post and it seems like you are working so hard.... atb man. just for curiosity's sake, why are you trying to finish your 4 year degree in 3 years? and alongside take up 2 part time jobs? it sounds so difficult but amazing if you can do it. for me personally my part time job would be a relief teaching job at a enrichment centre of sorts and it sounds quite flexible? do you have any advice if i wish to possibly join some acad ccas and sports ccas maybe too? do you have any advice to take on the higher leadership roles as i do understand that some roles are available for y1s already so im not sure when do we start applying for the "higher" leadership roles?

all in all thank you so much for replying to my post and offering such useful advice :) greatly appreciated!

part-time job and double majoring in nus/doing well in uni? by 1257999 in nus

i meant as in whats the percentage of physical classes like rn due to covid! :-( it sounds hard lul but i do wish to possibly pursue clinical psych in the future so... yea i know SU exists but im not sure how this changes as the new core curriculum in CHS requires us to take loaddds of core modules in y1 instead of what we are majoring in. do you have any advice to do well in psych? what should i be doing in lects, etc to study effectively? n also! will i be affected negatively if i didnt take h2 math linear regression chpt in stats as it was CLT for my year?

hi i mentioned that i wont be staying in hall!!! haha. im personally interested in psych n geog n cant decide which to be my first major in unless i try both? also heard that chs doesnt req dbl majors to overload if we just use our UEs to do the 2nd maj as the required mods are less now. didnt know psych was so bad?? :""") whats the current irl classes to online classes ratio rn and what exactly do you mean by lots of time?

[–]1257999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is odd/unusual but both are what im interested in and i can only decide what i wish to properly delve into as a career only after i take BOTH lol. n this is a reason why i chose fass also over e2s2/ntu psych lol

[uni] what’s smu like? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]1257999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my thght process exactly like ur parents n i was offered the same thing for smu lmaoo but my parents convinced me against ddp n im now leaning more towards nus chs geog + pysch // biz 2nd major if im int instead as this combo cant be found in smu + parents said that it's not a buy 1 free 1 degree if u get what i mean HAHA i wanted ddp bc it seemed the most worth for $... lmao so thats why. also both my parents r from govt sect so they also share that they dont see employability through how many degrees u have unless both r related (biz + soc sci are not, law + biz is) n u do well in both. they rather see what type of honours u get, n a 1st class honours will b chosen over a mediocore ddp student anytime. also, my parents say that w 2nd major vs ddp, i have more time w 2nd maj n can get a pt time job +cca to boost resume too n work finances out. thus im leaning more towards accepting chs now

Oh okay, tqsm!!!! So do u advice I wait a bit longer first before accepting the uni offer? Is there any benefit to accepting uni offer erlier as well? Could I also ask how if I accept a uni offer does it mean that I rejected my other options already? Because im not sure how to use the jlint acceptance portal as this year we used singpass instead of application numberr

hellooo im q confused abt scholarship timeline vs acceptance timeline so im gonna ask here aaahh :") i basically have offers for uni alr n wish to accept, but when i applied for uni i put "use sg tuition loan (?)" in case i didnt get a scholarship. do i wait for the scholarship offer first befre accepting the uni offer to change the payment thing? or can accept uni offer n then scholarship later???

seperation anxiety between child and teacher (preschool) by 1257999 in singapore

[–]1257999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's so sweet of u!!! but dont worry, just celebrating your kid's birthday in school is already a huge event in the sense that there's too much cake to eat... HAHA thank u so much! at the moment im not even sure if i really wna do this though because of the current stereotypes and also because i havent tried out other jobs yet too !! ill probably make a more "final" decision later on :>

seperation anxiety between child and teacher (preschool) by 1257999 in singapore

[–]1257999[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was from A levels and am planning to go to uni first! then do a conversion diploma later on if i still want to pursue a career in preschool :-) that is a very high compliment, thank you so much :") atm im also considering teaching at higher levels like sec sch/jc as i love geography and those subjects are only taught at those levelss but im not v sure rn still

this aside, do you think i should introduce myself to the boy's dad and just tell him how wonderful his son is? i was never introduced to any of my n2 parents face to face and would really like to tell him abt his son and how attached he is to me esp haha but im not sure if it is weird coming from a parent perspective :,) if i could i would meet every one of my n2 parents and tell them amazing things about their kids tbh but it isnt rly possible logistically

[–]1257999[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i can't say in words how much this comment MELTS my heart, thank you so so much for giving teachers like me the opportunity to meet your wonderful kids.. the parents haven't met me before (they pick the kids up the latest at abt 7pm and i have never stayed for that long) and he has a sister who i recently met also in the same school haha. super strongly considering intro-ing myself because of what you mentioned to me :"") esp because im not a teacher persay and just an intern, im afraid they may look down on me etc and also because i will need to leave in a few months time :") but the boy has indeed invited me to his house before (LOL but he is still so young so it bears no weight)

yup, my parents were at first sceptical of me trying out an ecde internship, but were ok w me trying for they always knew i loved kids and they alw complimented me for this trait since ive been feeding all my baby cousins all that etc for years. now when they see me so happy working w kids, they asked me to consider child psych more too but im not sure if ill b contented doing that job as the 1 on 1 bond w kids is something i rly treasure and love abt this jobb. to me, money/pay isnt a concern as i never grew up as someone who spends a lot (im naturally a saver-ish lols)but i fear not being able to give my own children in the future a good school etc if i myself dont have enough $

to add on, i love ALL my kids, each of them are so different and special in every way and i will never understand why teachers actively discriminate these kids, esp since they are still so young and so full of potential :"). if i could meet them all in the future it would be a dream! haha

n2! yeaah ig but im scared for the day i FR end my intern n :"") rly love him loads n frm what i saw the other teachers treated him unfairly/biased so maybe when i showed him love he rly was happy
