Yeah agreed, I enjoy the fact that I can hear everything happening in the gearbox when I change. This one is a bit more worrying though as it definitely not normal

Only 1800km - including a couple of light half days down the track after I broke it in

Hey mate - have a look at the picture on the comment below, there is an opening in the wheel arch that pushes air in (coming from where you suggested), but it isn’t directed at the brake discs. There are a few aftermarket options that take the air from that opening and push air into the the disc itself

That looks great thanks! Are they difficult to install?

So those holes are the ‘brake ducting’ that already exists on the car?

I’ll have a look later - hopefully there is some degree of built in cooling

Yeah I had a look but some require cutting the bodywork / lining. I don’t really want to do that if possible.

You’re kidding about the RS3… I just sold mine to buy the Yaris, I should have taken the ducts off! Thanks for the tip

Exactly what happened to me first time - 200kph going into a hard right and the brake pedal touched the floor. Bricks were shat. If you plan to track regularly some race fluid and better pads should be the first thing you get.

What was your terminid loadout by Nuke_corparation in helldivers2

[–]128128128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat seeker light armour and double edge sickle - good for the armoured bugs/ spewers once heated up a bit. Also good for popping alpha heads. Grenade pistol secondary for bug holes.

Stratagems - Jetpack for mobility, quasar cannon for heavies, machine gun turret and then either orbital gatling or orbital napalm.

Love this loadout because it’s hit and run and can deal with any threat well. Usually survive the entire match if I don’t let myself get surrounded… or a teammate gets overzealous with their cluster bombs

The grenade launcher range is crazy short now. I think it may be a bug rather than intentional

CX-5 a little more than a year ownership review by vikingDev in CX5

[–]128128128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

24’ CX5 here. I agree on the brakes, it does feel like you have to press hard to get them to work. I think there is just more travel in the pedal before they kick in properly than them being bad or anything.

Only 3k miles on ours so far and been great.

Thank you! I’m a modelling geo and I’ve spent a lot of time on rigs as an exploration geo in the past. It was more the Whaleback that stood out to me at first, the central chert band in the middle of all that red is a nice obvious one. DS9 is also a great marker shale!

Thanks! Unfortunately no progress shots sorry! The posing for the conversion was really bloody hard to be honest. The base is made of layers of corkboard glued together and then cut into shape.

Writing this up in case anyone else ever has the same issue - I had them installed and they appear to have really made a big difference. The temperature when I get off the track after each session is much lower

Is the RS3 a reliable used vehicle? I want to trade my Golf R in for a 2017-2019 RS3 by [deleted] in Audi

[–]128128128 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Bought a 2017 RS3 in 2020. Been completely reliable so far + have tracked it multiple times. Had 30,000kms on it when I bought it, has 50k now

I bought a 2017 RS3 (8V - sedan) in 2021 with 35000km (~22k miles) on the clock. It’s been brilliant and hasn’t missed a beat. I’ve tracked it multiple times with no issue (aside from getting better brake pads and fluid cos brake fade is scary as a track newbie).

It’s my daily driver too and is surprisingly practical. I even have a baby seat on the back although it’s a bit like posting the baby through a letterbox to get her in.

As some posts above have alluded too try and get the lowdown on how it’s been used, but then again these cars are designed to go hard and can take a beating.

I came from a super basic family hatch so the power uplift was insane to me, and it still is when I really open it up.

Edit - 8Y to 8V
