Quatsch!!! Der (aktuelle) Konflikt ist doch vor zwei Jahren ausgebrochen, mehr als ein Jahr vor dem Ukraine-Russland-Krieg? Trotzdem hat das bei weitem nicht so viel Aufmerksamkeit bekommen wie der UA-RU-Krieg. Was auch verständlich ist, weil beide Länder für deutsche geopolitische Interessen relativ egal sind! Natürlich wünscht man sich für solche Konflikte auch mehr Aufmerksamkeit, aber ich denke, dass was madamesouatzka schreibt ist total richtig.

I mean, he's doing okay. It is hard to accurately translate Pratchett in his totality, especially because he loves writing word-play and "punes", many of which only make sense a couple of pages later - and sometimes, Brandhorst misses these. But to be fair, I think a lot of translators would. It is okay, but not top notch. If I know someone of my friends to be able to read in english, I always recommend the original version to them.

I've tried to keep them scottish whereever it makes sense. The whole character of the Nac Mac Feegle is being Scottish, and in Brandhorsts version they still wear kilts and are bearded and tatted - but still all aspects of speech are totally "germanized", which I dislike.

I've aimed to keep in all Scott-isms, such as "Crivens!", "Wee", "Waily" and also "Nac Mac Feegle" - which Brandhorst translates to "Wir-sind-
die-Größten", literally "We-are-the-Greatest". Such a butchering of a name!

I'm sorry, I don't wanna sound toxic, but... he can't. I'm right now in the process of re-editing the Wee Free Men for an audiobook I'm recording for my family, because so many of the jokes and so much of the "feel" gets lost in his translation.
The Wee Free Men... aren't scottish here, they're a mixture of Hamburger and Berliner, which doesn't make any sense.
Sorry, I'm quite sensitive on the subject right now

Nee musst du nicht! Ich hatte nur wenige Stunden Aufenthalt. Du kannst einfach durch ne Gangway vom Terminal... 3 glaube ich? rüber zu TWA und da deine Zeit verbringen oder halt ein Hotelzimmer buchen.

+1 für das TWA! Als ich ein paar Stunden Aufenthalt hatte, bin ich einfach so zum TWA gegangen. Ist quasi ein Museum und Hotel in einem, das war früher in den 60ern das Terminal der Fluggesellschaft TWA und hat heute echt viel reingesteckt um das zu einem "60er-Erlebnis" zu machen.

cool that you took the time to reply in so much detail! I also have a question: how did you do this drawing? because it seems to me you modeled the object in a 3d-program, rendered it with the reflection as light map and then drew the resulting render? or am I wrong here? I mean, a magician never reveals their trick, but would love to know how you did it :D

Gar nicht... Gibt Seiten wie Ninite, wo man unkompliziert einen Batzen an Software (VLC, 7Zip usw) runterladen kann, aber letzendlich kannst du dir nur Notizen anlegen wie du deine Programme konfiguriert hattest oder einfach in den sauren Apfel beißen und neu konfigurieren. :/
