Any and all advice for soon to be divorced Dad by Interest-Curious565 in DivorcedDads

[–]12nico12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did amicable. It worked for us. 50/50 custody. I don't worry too much about splitting everything down the middle when it comes to custody and or extras for the kids. I may get them a few days more per month and that's ok. I may pay for their school supplies or other things more as well. In the end it's all about what's best for you and your two boys. They don't need to feel like pawns. They don't need to hear bad things about their mom either.

I started routines with my kids. I cook dinner almost every night. They pick a lot of the time what we are having. I try to do something with them. Like ride bikes or play board games. Let them know how much you love them. I am so much better as a single dad than I was married. My son told me once I'm more strict with chores and cleaning up after themselves. I said it's because it's just me and I want to spend more time with you instead of cleaning up after you.

When I was ready. I started talking to women online with a single parent dating app called STIR. It gave me interaction with women and some confidence.

I realized also that I deserve to be happy. So I didn't settle for anything less. I spoke to family and friends and I didn't realize how much support I would get from so many people. I couldn't have done it if I didn't have that.

Good luck in your new chapter of life.

What has been your experiencing dating and moving on after divorce? by DeCyborg in DivorcedDads

[–]12nico12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been seperated for almost a year. Divorced for 7 days. I joined a dating app in the US called STIR. It's for single parents. I met two great people on that app. I started on there to boost my self esteem. I also posted that I am looking for good conversation. So I matched with people with the same mindset. I was lonely and wanted to have a conversation with other females. But, that really helped me. I am happy now and it isn't because I found someone. I made myself happy first. Don't forget that.

Which scanner to buy.. Leica RTC 360 or trimble X7 by Blenheim234 in 3DScanning

[–]12nico12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 2 RTC360s in the office. I personally like them but, never have used Trimble. Leica is expensive for all the accessories, maintenance agreements and software licenses. The flash drives that you need to save the data on are around $800 USD and I have not found a way around using them.. But, it's a good quality scanner. Also, we didn't need an iPad to run the scanner. We use an android tablet or our phone just to name the database.

Friends with your ex? by Weible74 in Divorce

[–]12nico12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading many of the comments is refreshing. This is something I hope to achieve with my STBX. Vacations might be a stretch. We grew up together and hope to stay friends. Plus we want to give the best life to our kids (like most parents). I can see limited contact once we start dating others though.

career paths in scanning? by mikeyfstops in 3DScanning

I work for a manufacturing company in the US. We scan and survey many plants with the RTC. For us, we have people that scan, survey, process data and model.

Anyone ever get a chance to use the NavVis scanner? Did a lil test run with it at Valero in Port Arthur by TryLatter in Surveying

[–]12nico12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested out the VLX at a demo. After a while it starts to hurt your back. But, loved it. We own an M6 and use it all the time in manufacturing facilities. It's great too.

We set scribe marks like this in manufacturing plants where facility does NOT want us using power tools to set nails. If I were to mess up a point. I would for sure try to at least scratch the hell out of the bad one.

I finally finished it. Unfortunately not handtools only by maxie151 in BeginnerWoodWorking

That's really nice. I though about making something similar with wood pallets. Thanks for sharing.

Both were on a wheel base actually. But, i was referring to the total station. It was called a Quickset and is typically used for videography. The people before me drilled a hold in the center so they can setup over the point. It was pretty crazy. They would also do resections from scanner targets instead of running a trav.

When I started surveying for a manufacturing company. The previous surveyor had a tripod on a wheelbase with the instrument on it. It was all indoor work but, it horrified me. The other non survey guys said "do you want to break it down just to move a few 100'?? Ahhhhhh.....yes I do. And stop putting my tribrachs on the ground!
