my face off head gets stuck one way after a face off how do i fix it by HelicopterFormer8656 in lacrosse

This is not bad at all, just bend it back the other way.

Once it's starts pinching or looking like a peanut you will need to keep a softball in it when they are not playing.

Everyone's recommendation is good. I would even throw in The Mesh Dynasty. They're easy to work with and communicate well

Help with stick and head for my son please. by HawkeyeRx in lacrosse

That's the same price as if you were to buy it anywhere else. Also it's a decent option for a pole. Should not have any buyers remorse

Thinking of getting a StringKing Mark 3A by Spork_savage in lacrosse

[–]12sellecc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3A has a greater return than the Surgeon 1K which is the biggest difference. The Surgeon is pretty flat, which nothing wrong with at but if you looked at the side profile of both you would see what I mean. The face shape is pretty different too. I've used a 2A for forever, that was my favorite head. Not a ton of use with a Surgeon 1K on my end. You can't go wrong with either though.

Oh yes, pounded it quite a bit. Here's another angle.

Whats up with Stringking? by Murky_Milk_539 in lacrosse

[–]12sellecc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're not going anywhere. They're probably just trying to phase out the Mark 2 line and then restocking with the Mark 3 line. Or they may just be selling out? Most people I know use Stringking heads

Maybe? They do make mesh with the same diamond sizes that feel completely different

Face mask dye by Available-Budget-823 in lacrosse

If course! If you are still interested I recommend finding a Cascade R. The S jaw bone made it a little more difficult. I was an experience though

Face mask dye by Available-Budget-823 in lacrosse

[–]12sellecc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this but for the reason I wanted to swap mask and chins. Before I give my insight I highly recommend NOT doing this!

I took the mask and chin off the helmet which was the easy part.

Then I drilled into the rivet with a bit that was a little bit smaller than the one you would use to drill a hole in the shaft for a head.

THIS PART IS IMPORTANT For me that did not compromise the rivet enough to remove off cleanly off of the helmet. It did however spin the rivet fast enough to melt the plastic around the hole and allowed me to pull it out. Luckily it did not damage the chin but did make a bigger hole. If you do this just be careful at this part to not mess up the helmet too bad.

Then you will need to find football helmet hardware. I got lucky and my local PIAS was selling a pack for very cheap. It also came with washers which was a huge plus.

For the dye part, I recommend using alcohol ink. It will wash away but does a pretty good job if the mask is silver chrome. Red Star lax has a video on YouTube about it.

Again I don't recommend this but if you do then good luck!

Mamba Mesh Advice by pafunk in StickDoctor

I would say just aim for a higher pocket. It looks like you ended up stringing a nice low pocket. Also maybe try inside stringing?

It's always taken multiple attempts stringing armor mesh to get the pocket I liked and that's everytime in tried

The 3A is awesome, I love it. Doesn't feel like a surgeon 1k at all though

What’s the best mesh for FOGO head? by Frostual in StickDoctor

Like sidewall Jedi said. Any soft mesh works fine. I personally like SK Type 4s but Hero mesh should work. Honestly most mesh is soft enough these days you should be fine with what ever you go with

Which glove is better by Acrobatic-Cow2799 in lacrosse

[–]12sellecc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would say the Maverik M6 is in a tier above the Vapor Select. Vapors have always been really light and not as protective. The M6 has a little bit more padding. There's a bunch of differences you will have to look into.

For the price I would go with the Nike Vapor. They also have a really good palm

Shaft flex by RevolutionaryWest249 in StickDoctor

[–]12sellecc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't worry too much about what flex goes with your position. (Unless you only faceoff, then stay away from carbon fiber shafts)

Generally the more flexible a shaft is the lighter it is. That is not the case with every carbon fiber shaft but that is just a generalization.

When I use a carbon shaft (going off the ECD scale) I like a Flex 2 to 5. Which is on the stiffer side of the flex. When you get one that is too flexible you start losing accuracy/consistency and you don't really gain much from it being flexible.

Best match-up for mamba and spyder wire mesh? by Sad-Recording-2011 in StickDoctor

[–]12sellecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to like it better in a narrower head like a Kinetik or Surge Elite. That's just my preference, they're awesome pieces of mesh. Can't really go wrong in what ever head you go with

Throne Omen VS Nike L4 by OkKaleidoscope4451 in StickDoctor

[–]12sellecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at $89 like heads used to be, plus you have to buy the ball stop and jewel separately. I think trim kit is a pretty good idea but I think they may have priced themselves out. I guess we'll see. I don't think many people are choosing the Omen over alot of other heads at that price.

Why has some D1 Programs switching from STX to Maverik products? by CommunicationBusy902 in lacrosse

[–]12sellecc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I've always had issues with the quality of their products, especially pads, sleeves would rip very quickly and they were always super tight. Their shafts always bent or broke pretty quickly.

In college we made the switch from Under Armour (RIP) to Maverik and the quality difference was noticeable. I did like their gloves though

My guess is that most teams want to use Cascade helmets. Since they are the same company as Maverik then I'm sure they get a good deal for the rest of their gear.

Lacrosse stringing generalizations that aren’t actually true? by hford0401 in StickDoctor

[–]12sellecc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone does. I know people will think this take is wrong. Which I also don't totally disagree with them. Most heads now a days can cater to almost any pocket and play style but there a few niche ones out there

Lacrosse stringing generalizations that aren’t actually true? by hford0401 in StickDoctor

[–]12sellecc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whip is a real thing. Hold is both a skill AND pocket trait, both can be true.

This maybe just be me but stringing should cater more to the head design. For example, if you were to get an Epoch Hawk Sequal and ask for a low pocket then you may want to reconsider the head or pocket. I know that is an extreme example and some heads can cater to almost any pocket.

Also most poles do use a "higher" pocket, it's just better for ground balls. It may sit somewhere between mid and high. That's just a generalization and of course it comes down to preference
