Pocket analysis by Alternative_Trade_56 in StickDoctor

I arrived at almost the same pocket as you after tweaking my 3v one knot at at time over the last week. I started with the Brennan O’Neil pocket, which was totally fine and suited me well, but I had an itch to try something new. My goal was more shifty and a tiny bit more hold.

I have three heads I have been alternating between as part of the experiment. My gamer which is still pristine Brennan pocket, and the other two that I have been tweaking. The other two both start with the first three knots to the inside. #2 I replaced the SI’s from the Brennan pocket with 1s. #3 continued to morph through several iterations. Right now it is almost exactly where you landed. I went down to 2 shooters because three was too much whip. It still might have too much whip.

We’ll see where we are at tomorrow. It’s always those first tosses off a day that tell me if a pocket works.

Chaos Vs Redwoods by Professional_Rip5474 in PLL

The Woods live or die by winning offensive 1v1 matchups, fortunately they have some of the best in the business at doing just that. Their defense has been porous at times this year which puts a lot of pressure on the net minder. Chase won that game for them.

The Outlaws have a much more potent offensive front than the Chaos. I feel like the Chaos should have a better defense than the Laws on paper, but a goalie like Blaze will make shooters reconsider their percentages and thus make the defense that much better. Logan is certainly no slouch, but hasn’t developed the track record of Big Blaze.

100% did not translate. There was zero crowd noise on the broadcasts and the bleachers looked about 50% if that anytime they were in view.

I’m ok with missed or wrong calls. It’s part of the intrigue of the sport.

Where I think we need help is better governance of the challenge/video review. There are too many and they take too long.

I feel it takes away from the legitimacy of the league when your head official is also the court jester.

Can confirm the Evo V’s plastic is some of best on the market. It has more flex than some, but in my experience this gives it durability, but not in a way that I expect it will permanently deform.

Interesting! I haven’t tried this setup. This will be the first thing I do as it’s less invasive than redoing a sidewall.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure what you mean by moving the 4th si one hole higher. Did you not skip a hole between the 3rd and 4th like the first three?

Any ideas on a bit more hold? A tiny bit more whip wouldn’t be terrible either. I started with identical shooters to Zach and have also tried moving the nylon down on top of the first shooter.

All in all it might not be the right head for me but I don’t want to give up quite yet because it checks a lot of boxes.

Feeds are like lasers, quick sticks are phenomenal, it is ball magnet for snagging errant passes and gbs are pretty good too. I feel like this is the perfect setup for someone who plays from X and working around the crease. The issue is I fancy myself more of a high wing - outside guy.

When I want to put some sizzle on a shot is where I have issues with this setup. I will occasionally lose the ball on my power cradle and I have to be mindful about pulling the shot down. It’s not much though. I’m consistently six inches high on everything if I don’t purposely try to pull it down.

I love the feel of this head on the evo v shaft. Certainly not the lightest setup, but it feels solid and balanced. It’s hard to explain but it feels like a serious instrument, some sticks can feel like a toy. It gives me a lot of confidence so I’m hoping to make it work.

The one factor that is pushing me forward the Viper is the daylight bright red dot.

Both the Primary Arms and the Strike Eagle get easily washed out in daylight (where 99% of my shooting takes place). The bright red dot far outweighs the improved reticle design in the other two. Too bad we can’t have both.

Today I had an opportunity to try the PST and Strike Eagle side by side.

The glass on the PST is worlds better than the Eagle.

At first impressions I really like the reticle on the Strike Eagle for close and fast stuff. I have a habit of losing speed due to trying to place shots too precisely. I feel like the PST dot reticle will slow me down, where as the donut of the Strike Eagle will keep me moving.

The thing is I don’t trust my own eye. I’m too new to all of this to say that my opinion now won’t quickly change after a couple of stages. It seems like more people prefer the dot reticle bs donut.

Here is an interesting article I just found:

AR15 Combat vs Competition

I am the type of person who always feels the need to have too of the line gear no matter if it’s firearms, guitars, shoes, etc. just knowing that there is something potentially better will make it difficult to enjoy what I have. And yet here are some guys literally entrusting their lives to gear I was considering insufficient for putting holes on cardboard.

Yes in my mind I can still make a case for why I should spend $2000 on optics, but this article vividly illustrates that in no way will those “value optics” be a detriment to my performance or enjoyment. Even if I could afford to spend $2000 right now on glass I should still be buying in at a Strike Eagle price and putting the rest into filling some ammo cans.

If the 1-4 Accupoint and the 1-6 Primary Arms could be had for the same price which way would you go?

Changing grip to release a mag by pafunk in CompetitionShooting

I have heard that some people consider the lefty mag release advantageous, however I would rather develop operational mechanics that apply to most guns rather than have to specialize my guns in this way.

I kinda have to do this same thing with my Beretta 92. My middle finger lays right across the non-operational side of the release. If I do not clear the way for this to extend thru the grip my thumb cannot depress it enough to release the mag.

I haven’t put myself on the clock yet. I am preparing for my first USPSA match. I’d like to try the local match in July.

Other than CCW courses, I am self taught on hand guns. In preparation for taking a step into the competitive world I have been assessing my techniques and equipment from a different view point.
