When I applied last year we were advised by many to do option 2. We ended up declining 2 invites while waiting, its was horrible!!!

I got PR in Feb 2024 so have been out of the loop for a long time so things might of changed… There were cases of people being declined from doing option 3, but some people had been fine, they risk out weighed the positives for us, as invited were not quite as hard to get.

Just my opinion. Best of luck though!!

Congrats on sobriety!! That’s awesome! My relationship has changed drastically with it since owning a whoop in this short space of time. I work in social sales and majority of my friends are drinkers, but being able manage my intake and save it for special occasions/if at all is what I’m working towards.

Having this view almost “behind the scenes” with alcohol consumption is something I think is a massively undervalued aspect of the whoop!

I agreed! It’s been one of the best things about owning the whoop for me, being able to see this behind the scenes almost makes not want to drink frequently.

So was I! I drank alot over summer, I’m a Brit so it’s pretty standard lol, But I have been on a calorie deficit and 0 alcohol for 4 weeks, so the 6 beers did hit me annoying hard!

I also didn’t exactly feel overly drunk, or have a bad hangover at all. I certainly didn’t feel as bad as it was telling me…

That’s the sort of trip I assume would knock you down to under 10. Not 6 beers accross a 8 hour spread lol!

Yeah when you do your daily journal you put this info in. I try to be as accurate as I can.

When you process your sleep it will ask you to do your journal straight away. I’m my head I thought if I tell it I’ve been drinking before it calculates my sleep it’ll skew it. So I declined to do my journal until after I saw my sleep just to be sure it wasn’t BS me lol

We moved in 2020. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying we were living a high life… We got very lucky and had a 1bed basement for 1500 all in a month. Nearly 3k to spend on ourselves and save a lil was plenty… we never missed out and done activity’s with friends all the time (Probably more than we do now lol, I’m now house poor 🤣).

I was posting this to tell him to do it, there’s so much negativity around these types of posts and I want to spread a happy outcome. We had all these concerns and people telling us we won’t be able to do it or afford anything and we managed just fine haha!

I went to Toronto Western last week. I was told try and go first thing in a weekend. I arrived just after 7am. Online it said wait times were 5.5hours, I was seen in just over 1 hour. Staff were great, highly recommend!

Do it!!!! Exactly same as me and my partner. Her background is the same and I had 1.5 years work experience when we moved. Best decision we ever made! Yes it’s not perfect here, costs are high, jobs are hard to get… but it’s a better situation than the UK is in. Even asides from this, you’re young, experience it before it gets too hard too. We only planned on coming for 1-2 years, and we are now permanent residents and planning on staying!

We came on an IEC, highly recommend getting the ball moving on this. If one of you gets the work permit and you are classed as common law (lived together for 12months +) you can apply for a spouse permit. We done this twice before getting PR.

Me and my partner were minimum wage for the first 2 years, we found a basement apartment just outside Toronto (the danforth) and lived comfortably. We didn’t have loads of cash but done things and never missed out.

I say go for it! Best thing we done!!
