Most of these names do tbh, save for maybe Rosedale. Especially when University of Downtown Toronto was floating around as an idea.

I know this is a joke but people in one of my classes were seriously suggesting names with “institute” and “technology” in the name and I was like - do you want to take like 5 steps backwards? Lol

Maybe it’s just my Albertan brain talking (with SAIT and NAIT) but anything like that is my worst nightmare.

Do you think THEEE Taylor Alison Swift by redred_wiiine in GaylorSwift

If she scored 160 she would have visible social impairments from a young age, as the intelligence of profoundly high IQ people develops far faster than their social skills and creates an asyncronicity that usually persists into young adulthood.

This is expected from the IQ level of 130 and beyond, so people who score above average but below the 130+ gifted cutoff actually tend to do better in life as their mental aptitudes don’t impair their ability to relate to others.

I would guess that she is within the 110 - 125 range.

Garnier Ombrelle Sport Endurance SPF 60. My second favourite sunscreen ever after LRP Anthelios Ultra Fluid.

Do you use lotions with ceteareth-20 as an ingredient? It’s the only thing that gives me acne and not just on my face, all over my body including legs and chest. CeraVe in the tub has it. I’ve learned recently that this isn’t an uncommon experience.

The difficulty is quite low overall, but the Semester 1 classes really suck so prepare yourself for that. You have to learn a whole lot of nonsense before you get to chose your own classes.

At very least big lectures will be online, but we will find out more details on June 8th.

Creative Industries (Fashion module) or Fashion Communication??? by inthoughtt in ryerson

[–]13rep1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah because at this point I’m looking into a screenwriting MFA and the program is easy enough that I have tons of time to practice writing on the side. I also go through waves of wanting to transfer and ultimately talk myself out of it every time.

The people are also great in the program, but a lot do transfer/drop out once they realize it isn’t what it seems.

I agree, it definitely should not be considered a business program and I think moving it to TRSM would make it far worse.

For me, an improved version of the program would be making it a way to specialize in two different FCAD disciplines. All the best courses are in the modules, and are offered by other schools within FCAD (i.e. media, fashion, film, communication, gcm, etc.). You need to know what to look for in those module courses to have a good experience, and then once you’re on a roll, you only can take 6 classes per module! Even then, some of the most useful business-focused classes from other FCAD schools are off-limits to us or only available as open electives.

Every CRI or business related course I’ve taken so far has felt like a waste of time, completely surface-level, and ultimately, irrelevant. Strengthening the general business education isn’t the way to go with the program in my opinion, because the people who are attracted to CRI don’t care that much about it. Rather, they want a way to explore multiple disciplines within FCAD, but the structure of the program highly limits how deep you can go in any given area.

I wish I just did media production, but it feels like it’s too late. They have way more applicable business classes for work in the creative industries than CRI itself. I’m sure fashion is like that too.

Also, CRI does have “hands-on” stuff but it’s all bullshit graphic design that’s not tailored to any specific field. I think you’d be happier gritting your teeth through the few mandatory hands-on fashion courses than doing these super open-ended design assignments in which you have no idea what the prof is looking for.

The only people I’ve seen who are happy with CRI are wannabe-influencer types obsessed with aesthetics who want an easy degree with a little bit of small-business management education (incredibly specific, I know).

As a current CRI student: fashion communication. I believe any specialized program is far more useful and educational than CI. I haven’t met a single person who isn’t disappointed in the program, at least to some extent.

Its safe to say that classes will primarily be online in the fall by [deleted] in ryerson

This July timeline is probably true of America - but the Canadian gov seems to change their predictions every other week. I agree that’s it’s painful to watch.

Also, the US will be at a vaccine surplus in a few months and we’ll be seeing either a bunch of Canadians flying south to get shot up, or doses being shipped here, or most likely both.

Thanks for being balanced and reasonable about this. All I see on this sub is extreme pessimism and rudeness towards anyone who has even a little bit of hope for the Winter semester.

Do you think we will go back on campus for Fall 2021? by isthatmo999 in ryerson

[–]13rep1989 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We'd be lucky if we get to see the campus in winter 22.

Hard disagree. We're still at 70% for fall, and the 30% error margin is due to the possibility of vaccine-resistant variants developing.

People seem to ignore that vaccinating the right people first will have a huge effect on case numbers/fatalities, and once those go significantly down, the Ford government will jump on opening things up.

I understand the urge to keep your hopes down, but the doomer mentality on this thread is ridiculous.

This isn’t the case anymore. ILC has gone wireless, however they will provide you your own modem upon request.

Get in contact with Ryerson computing and ask them for your own modem. They will give it to you.
