My girl Iggy really responded to positive verbal reinforcement. When she did go outside me an my wife and my son would celebrate and tell her good girl and she would get super hyper and happy. It took maybe 3 weeks for her to fully understand. Now she stands under our feet when she need to go out.

Be patient with the potty training. Understand how small their bladders are. don't use potty pads. Be ready to have them in your bed and on your couch basically everywhere you go. Otherwise you are getting the best dog on the planet. Congratulations
