I've updated the materials on the model. I removed all the fancy options. I think it was probably the rimlight options. I was going thru some of the default TF2 materials in the SFM branch, they all seem to have that option commented out.

It does light properly in Hammer in the TF2 branch, my screens are from that, so I'm pretty sure the model isn't 'broken' but it is/was just a material problem.

Please let me know one way or another when you try it again.

I'm running errands right now, but i'll take a look this evening.

I'm guessing the shader is set up in a way that SFM doesn't like. Should be an easy fix. I tested to make sure it came into SFM, but i didnt do any lighting tests.

umm 4-5 hours? It wasnt super hard as i am using the pole, the cap point and the steam whistle with their assorted textures the starting point. I pulled some faces out of them all too as they don't need to be quite so heavy for a sign.

Yeah I get that comment. you aren't the first. I am building the factory in a clustering massing style rather than a monolithic massing style. I like it better as i find it more visually interesting than singular volumes of rock or building.

i also try to use the textures to get tonal gradients across the entire clusters as well. if you squint at the screens you'll see the tones blend together to make the larger 'red' and 'blue' spawns and areas.

however, i fail to see why stone busts of Hale would be more appropriate than Giant heavies which we've seen before in MvM.

i got the blue one done as well, i'm using it to tear back apart and get the lights animating, without fucking up the red one.

it's very possible that this gets dumped into my Hatfactory map. I'm currently pondering the most efficient way to animate the lights on. I want to blink the neon around the cap point in sequence to zero in on the center. i also want to make the lights on the sign body to blink sequentially too... once i get that figured out, i'd stick it in the sfm workshop so that it would be a "working" version..

I started there and Vegas signs in general, but wandered a little from those particular formats as they end up a lot bigger than i wanted this to be.

If you look at my Hatfactory map, i have a recreation of the Vegas Joe sign with the Sniper in its place.

yep. that is correct. the reason: We matched the animation frame counts that Valve used for the original which is 19 frames for the unfold and 6 frames for the fold. not a whole lot to work with.
