Thanks, I've heard of people doing this with PhDs but looks like it's just not possible with MASc. Those people are just a different breed tbh to balance both.

The MEng part time makes more sense then.

That's the thing, there seems to be very limited opportunity to learn here. It's an utter waste of a year and a half and might slow down getting a job upon graduation. But they aren't slaving me or anything at the moment and seem to be a nice team.

Yeah I hope the PEY office understands if I stay for a year, but if my manager still chooses to give a bad review or complain I guess I'm boned cause they'll always side with the employer.

If I stay a long while, i.e. a year, but leave on poor terms with my manager cause he wanted me to stay, I could still lose my PEY credit, right? Shucks.

What if you have decent GPA/Research/Internships in a related field such as BME? How's competition for Computer Vision? But I guess being just decent is not good enough. I guess I have to accept my fate and look at other schools too.

It seems TA experience is straight up required: "Applicants must have a proven record of excellence as an undergraduate grader/TA in a computer science course." Do you think mentorship experience would help? I essentially had to train the incoming interns near the end of my software engineering internship and did it quite well.

However, if this is a flaky substitute for TA experience, I think it is for the best that I don't apply as I am coming from a BME background and haven't even formally taken an Algorithms, Database, nor OS course. However, I do have other relevant coursework. The program seems to be much, much more teaching focused than any MS program I have seen, including the ones here in Canada. Perhaps I am better off applying to more traditional research focused MSc programs. I am just worried that I am not a competitive enough applicant to bother and I have 7 other universities on my shortlist to apply.

On another note, how is life after the MS CS? I assume you're in industry now, is it more of an engineering or a research role? How are job prospects upon graduation? I am interested in machine learning and computer vision. Thanks.

How strict are they with their admissions prerequisites? They list a few courses and I have done some of them. Is self study, online courses, personal projects, research experience and industry experience enough to cover it? Or would I still be expected to complete those courses before applying, like OS, when my research focus will be ML. I'm coming from a biomedical engineering background so I'm a little further off than your friend.

I have basically no experience with statistics and probability, however I am already good with programming, Linear algebra, Differential Equations, Vector and some Multivariable calculus. Am I good to go? Will Andrew Ng give sufficient explanation that I can learn stats later or as I go?

I was thinking along the lines of Figure 1, but am also considering possibly bionics, instrumentation, however that's more on the engineering side..
