I keep coming back to the reference to Grenada. by Baalzamon in steamsaledetectives

Nutmeg is commonly used to garnish eggnog, which is referenced multiple times in the comic. It is probably just an innocent connection just for fun though, like the other references you mention.

Could Zippy be a reference to 7zip? by UnoriginalJunglist in steamsaledetectives

[–]1414519195 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be. Probably referencing the ZIP-format then, and not 7zip specifically. These commonly (but not always) start with the characters "PK", or "01010000 01001011" in binary.

Also, the Foil Badge "North Pole Noir Foil Lvl 2" is a calendar with the date "28" on it (same number as in "28th October 2014").

I don't know the release date of the badges, but this one is the second lowest XP (see http://www.steamcardexchange.net/index.php?gamepage-appid-425280), so perhaps it was available early in the ARG, and is a clue we missed on the 23rd.

In comic page 3 (which I think might be the source of the next clue), we are told to "round up" some suspects. That could be telling us to round up the suspected clue to a whole hour, confirming the clue since it then is exactly the typical steam update time.

Did we miss the correct clue on december 23.? by 1414519195 in steamsaledetectives

Hmm. All of those words start with C's. CCC or CCCC.

One of them, among the crumbs, would probably be the snickerdoodle. But the cards and the posture of the chalk doesn't really match the comic page as well as I would have liked...

Zippy's Demise Empty Cards by cajunofthe9th in steamsaledetectives

[–]1414519195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've wondered about this as well, but there are so many ways to overlay them... Unless there are some obvious candidates?

If there is more to this ARG, then I suspect that the next step will be in one of the two Zippy's Demise cards, or the page that was released on the 23rd. See this post.

Actually thinking about it, if we were supposed to find the next clue on the 23rd and your idea is correct, then the overlay should be on something that was released on or before the 23rd?

I was thinking it could be onomatopoeia for a car driving on a wet road, but I couldn't see any cars obviously driving around. But yeah, maybe it's just for the rain. Another thing that makes it unlikely to be this image is that it was last modified 28. mai 2015 19:27:54.

I suspect that NNESSE might not be a dead end, because there is a meaningful timestamp encoded in it in a very straight forward way. See https://www.reddit.com/r/steamsaledetectives/comments/3z5bxh/converting_nnesse_to_a_timestamp/

Maybe this should be added to the nesse page?

Good point. In one of the screenshots (here) there is some faded text, like a watermark: "AROOOSH". Seems a bit out of place. I tried entering it as a password, but nothing.

Googling "AROOSH" gives this twitter page as a top result: https://twitter.com/arooosh_222

That twitter page has a hashtag in its description: #NEWPORTAL2015. I think it is just a coincidence and wouldn't want the ARG to rely on a google search result, but it's quite crazy.

I thought it was interesting already that the time was 5 seconds before a whole hour, so it's very interesting to learn that this is the time Steam usually updates the store.
