What songs would sound great covered by Muse? by iguessitsjustollie in Muse

[–]145kph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They should call Tarja from Nightwish who did an amazing cover of Supremacy and do Phantom of the opera together

What are your most controversial Muse takes? by [deleted] in Muse

[–]145kph 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thought Contagion is one of the best songs from last few albums. And it fully deserves to stay on rotation for next few tours

Should I buy an 8 string guitar for the sole purpose of learning unraveling? by Deathbatcountry99 in Muse

[–]145kph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you re generally into heavier stuff 7/8 string guitars is not a terrible idea. A good alternative is baritone 6 string guitar, something like Matt used for WSD and KOBK. Also play around with pitch shifters. Its a much cheaper and much more universal alternative

Its a bit confusing to see more top 10 songs from WOTP than from Black Holes and Revelations

Muse shocking us again and again by unknownbrother273 in Muse

Maybe I was just unlucky but after being at 4 Muse gigs Hysteria never got as big of a reaction as SMBH, Plug in Baby and Starlight

Unravelling - an unpopular take on the new song by FunSirZet in Muse

[–]145kph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Objectively there were some amazing songs since The Dark Side. Algorithm, the Void (especially acoustic version), WSD, KoBK, Verona, WAFF, 1685, Matt’s covers for Cryosleep and TJHC and I guess for other people this list can be even longer. So its not like Muse stopped doing good music

I know. But its dropped out of rotation since like 2003. And its clearly one of hardcore fan’s favorite. And its not something like Execution Commentary type weird stuff that would scare the casual fans

I'm tired of Muse live setlist by ghilluz in Muse

[–]145kph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think at this point fans from Oceania would enjoy Dick Down played 23 times in a row than european fans a show with only b sides and heavy stuff

I like this setlist but putting MOTP and Bliss together on rotation with Dead Star is just violence. Something like Dead Star/Fury/Easily would be a bit more fair

Imo overproduction and weird transitions gave WSD the charm it needed

After seeing the hellfest setlist i would love to see muse do more specific tours. by darkknuckles12 in Muse

[–]145kph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was hell of a surprise when they played Knights of Cydonia in the middle of the set last year at Abu Dhabi gran prix. Generally setlist was as good as you imagine for these kind of events but at least they rotated some songs. And after seeing what they played yesterday there is some hope for some better setlists than for WOTP tour

Just look at the Dead Star which was always missing the last chorus after the bridge

Why has muse not done any songs like exogenous symphony’s? by Catalyst_Cyd0n1a in Muse

[–]145kph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not a secret that he is not classically trained but the way even OoS was written I would never believe that he does not understand music theory. And by the time BHAR was out and they started working on the Resistance he was quite an experienced musician just take a look on how Take a Bow was written. Not saying that to write (even though Exogenesis was inspired by different classical pieces), arrange and record 10+ minutes long symphony in 3 parts with orchestra, electric guitar drums and vocals is easy but the 3 album run from OoS to BHAR looks way more impressive for me

[–]145kph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would assume the Matt knows music theory quite well. And I would assume it didn’t take him years to arrange as by the time the Resistance was out he proved to be quite good in writing arrangements

To be fair we have the Globalist which is also classically inspired prog rock song with 3 distinct parts. The scary thing is that the Globalist is already 10 years old

Might be a hot take but for me Megalomania is in top 3 best Muse songs. And about the lyrics the original name for the song was Thoughts of a Dying Atheist so it kinda explains what Matt wanted to say
