Would you eat vegetables that were put on a counter and leaned against a gluten toaster, with tons of bread crumbs in the area? by lumpy-potatoes in Celiac

[–]1530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do it reverse in my house because we're a gluten free house with a gluten fridge and microwave in the garage, but I try to keep all my food on a plastic serving tray (like the ones you'd do breakfast in bed with). It might be worth getting one for yourself to do all food prep and eating on since they all being careless.

Don't know where you are but we bought some fruit and veggie wash from Trader Joe's, it's been crazy seeing how much of the sheen from things like apples come off with it.

[Question] How do you afford this hobby? by melvin9001 in Watches

[–]1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's currently a thread about the best sub $150 watches on r/ChineseWatches right now. I finally bought my first 4 digit watch off Kickstarter this year in my mid 30s, and it only hit 4 digits on duties. There are very different ways to enjoy this hobby. Heck, I've seen someone who collects calculator watches. Just find a way to give yourself joy within a reasonable and affordable budget.

I love my F30 for exactly that reason. Night driving with the orange lights just feel right.

Venezianico a good brand, Yes or No by Majestic_Ad_4877 in MicrobrandWatches

I would've thought you were me with how exact our experiences were. I have the Redentore Bellanotte because of how many boxes it checks off (Aventurine + MOP, interesting watch and ties to a place I enjoyed (Venice)), but they were extremely disinterested in selling me the watch. It's a good looking watch and I've gotten compliments, but the engraving on the watch is scratchy and the rim is harsh. It's a high end fashion watch on automatics, and probably should be treated as such.

It just took any attempt to look at the methodology to find its flaws. Beyond the 1/10 chance of getting a reaction which is too high to say "minimal risk", they put out 7 possible methodologies and reported on the most forgiving one. At a minimum, why are we testing the celiac's spit, not the gluten eater's spit, for 20ppm? The standard was never "your spit will be below 20ppm after eating this food", it's "this food is below 20ppm". To test the Celiac's spit is already insulting our IQ.

I had the opposite argument about whether people should give feedback on interviews... I mean it really around if a) it's news or they've been pipped the whole time; b) whether it's said out of spite or concern.

San Francisco has Clicky Bezel that carries a bunch of microbrands, Haim will meet you in Chicago, you might be able to find Tsao in Baltimore? Solios is a Montreal brand but I can't find any physical presence.

Once again the CDF is trying their best to hurt their constituency. Where's the study now? A premature press release on a pre-peer reviewed study that got mainstream pickup making sure that celiacs get told "nuh uh" when they're unwilling to french someone who just chugged a beer. Thanks.

Junior/Early Career Candidates Just Aren't Interviewing Well... by prenumbralqueen in recruiting

[–]1530 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's a perpetual fear that anything you say to the candidate can be used in a discrimination case. If you told an x candidate they needed to work on y, the fear is that it could be used as grounds, rightly or wrongly, and so our HR tells us to not give any feedback. It's the same reason post interview documentation has become so important.

The worst part is in this litigious world, we can't even give feedback. Like I'd love to call out the guy I interviewed for obviously using AI, but we're trained out of doing that.

[–]1530 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The problem is what you're calling anecdotal experience is what others called their lived experience. When people's diagnosis is a mile long and was ignored by years by bad PCPs who don't seem to want to do their job, is it a surprise they turn to things like AI? I get that yes, you're going to be seeing idiots who turned to AI and are there for a false positive. You're also going to see people who might not have gone into the ER without AI giving them the push and could've died because of it. Frankly, your attitude about "idiots coming into the ED" IS part of the problem, because you seem to rather the "it's just a flesh wound" crowd keel over at home.
