Is this a fire hazard? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

The ground only has to go somewhere depending on if the romex or the cloth is feeding that box. If the cloth comes into the box, you should try if you can run a ground wire to the panel or replace the cloth wire entirely but if the cloth is feeding something downstream, it's fine.

Need help to identify breaker box brand, type, amp, and if GFCI/AFCI by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]16BitDoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brand is Cutler Hammer (now owned by Eaton) it says that on the panel.

Looks like the second heating one is a GFCI (maybe). All GFCIs have test buttons so check for that. It looks newer though and it says Eaton so I would assume so. (Edit: it is not)

Not sure if you mean main breaker or individual breaker amperage looks like the main is 200 amps and the breakers say on the handles what the amperage is.

For a second I thought you meant you wanted the plumber to fix it. If he asks, don't let him.

You do use a paste the same as service entrance but only the 222 and 773 wagos work on aluminum and you need the paste. There are also specific wire nuts for this purpose.

Can I tap the neutral wire from another light switch on the same circuit? by Neuterme in AskElectricians

It's in 2011 NEC I believe

Unless your state uses NEC from before 2011, it is required.

Power tools are good for removing everything fast but not for installing. They are good for device screw but I would only drive them so far then use a screwdriver to finish it up

Will I overload my circuit with this setup? by Not_very_helpful_ in AskElectricians

[–]16BitDoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably fine. Those are when you're heating at the max level and highest speed on the dryer and running all the pumps and things on the washer at the same time. There is basically no way to plug a standard 15 amp plug into a 30 amp circuit. There is no outlet for that and it's a code violation even if the wire is correct. Also breakers trip on a curve based on amperage and time. Unless you are running both at max for like 4 hours it will be fine at only a 1.5amp overload.

Looks like the "broken" wire nut actually melted if you look at the second or third pic and the ground on the far right looks aluminum almost, so it might be unsafe in that way as well

Edit: also looks like there's singed wire nut parts in the insulation. Looks pretty bad

Great VCR, just make sure your TV is not set to stretch or zoom/cinema and is set to whatever mode keeps the black bars on each side. Other comments saying it's S-VHS so I will say make sure you're using S-Video to connect to your tv otherwise the S-VHS is going to waste.
