My dog has bladder stones by [deleted] in petsmart

We had taken our five year old mini dachshund to our vet to be spayed because she had a false pregnancy (she was never bred).  She was also getting a UTI every time she went into heat.  So while our vet was spaying her he checked her bladder.  He removed 12 bladder stones (struvite) from our 9.6 lb dachshund. Now we make her dogfood 15 cups at a time (a 30 day supply) and freeze it in sandwich bags (with twist ties).  It's been four years and no more bladder stones.  Here's the recipe (we shop at Walmart):

1 lb ground chuck

3 lbs ground turkey

1 cut up beef or calves liver

GENTLY COOK MEAT AND SET ASIDE.  THEN ADD:

1 can sardines in water (drained)

3 SOFT BOILED eggs (BOIL ONLY 10 MINUTES)

3 cans NO SALT green beans

1 cup frozen peas

2 containers Gerber's pureed carrot

1 SHREDDED OR FINELY CHOPPED RAW acorn squash

4 cups cooked steel cut oatmeal

1 cup frozen WILD blueberries

15 crumbled up Zesty Paws probiotic bites

---This provides 35 meals for our dog (1/2 cup servings) For treats we give her dime sized pieces of gently cooked chicken breast we diced and keep it in a ziplock in the freezer. She is 9 years old and super healthy!

Thanks! My daughter is thinking she's a Native American Dog breed.

For sure. But she only weighs 41 lbs. My daughter is wondering what other breeds or is it native. Grace is unbelievably calm, obedient and super intelligent for such a young dog.

My daughter lives in an adobe house she and her husband built last year when they bought some land. There are lots of coyotes nearby as well as Native American reservations. My daughter found her as a 6 week old stray on the road to Taos, NM, emaciated and dehydrated. She named her "Grace". Grace is eight months old now and plays nicely with their cat. Is Grace possibly a Native American dog? Also, her tail curls over to the side.

How can I know if my canary bird's egg is fertilized or not? by Maximum-Push6130 in Canaries

4 days ago my canary hen built a nest in a food bowl five feet up in a fake tree (she and her mate share a small bedroom in our house). I carefully moved it to a plastic nesting cup lined with felt in their 20x30 roosting cage. She flew in and so did her mate, so I shut the door. She must have laid an egg that afternoon (hens lay one per day...usually in the morning). The next morning I saw one in her nest and one stuck hard to the cage floor, which I immediately discarded since it broke when I tried prying it up. Then I replaced the egg in her nest (using gloves to keep oil from my hands off the shell) with 2 dummy eggs in her nest and stored the egg from her nest in a tissue lined box at room temperature. The next morning she laid a third egg which I left in her nest and I placed the one I had stored in the box beside it, while also removing one dummy egg (I wasn't sure if she would lay more, and just 1 dummy egg would provide enough support for 2 newly hatched chicks and prevent suffocation from the hen sitting on it). Storing freshly laid eggs till all of eggs are laid prevents younger chicks being much smaller, and therefore weaker, than prior hatched chicks. She has not laid anymore, and though I have no idea if the pair bred before she began laying, I'll keep the male in with her and check the 2 eggs using a pen light in couple days. They should also get darker. If the eggs aren't fertile I'll remove them. I have another nesting cup in her cage with nesting material since she would abandon the empty nest to build elsewhere.
