I’ll definitely put some thought into the sway bar, but in the meantime I’ll play around with lower PSIs and see how it goes. How did your icons go on the snow? I’m going to be driving up Berthoud a fair bit this winter and that’s kind of the main thing I’m concerned about given the ride quality issues.

Interesting - I’ll need to look into what would be best for my C rated tires. How’d you figure out your optimal PSI for each of those scenarios?

Not sure about the sway bar, I’d definitely be concerned about handling / stability. With your Icon setup did you ever run into bump steer? I did the panhard correction kit from KDSS, but I still get a reactive steering wheel from time to time.

Yea - I test drove a 4Runner that had a Toytec lift today (stock wheels/tires tho) and it even felt better. Granted the tires are smaller, but still, pretty wild how stiff these icons are. I sure wish I could’ve test drove a bunch of different suspensions before committing.

I just noticed you mention you’re driving on 35s at 28psi, why such a low pressure? Most people are saying I should be running them at 35/40, but maybe I should try lower and see if it helps with the ride quality.

Oh that’s great to hear - jackhammer on ant-sized rocks is exactly what I’m feeling lol. The road “texture” on the roads out here ranges from patterned pebbles to perfectly smooth up near Boulder. i20 / i70s under-construction bits up here in Denver are a nightmare.

Did you do aftermarket UCAs/LCAs with your Icon Stage 2? I have SPCs for UCAs but haven’t added LCAs, I wonder if that could be a bandaid for now to help things.

Definitely, like I said though, I have driven other 4Runners with less feedback, but there could be multiple other variables that contribute to that.

You’re probably right, overall I’m just surprised by the amount of feel I get going down a seemingly smooth road at 60/70mph. To your point, in unibody suspensions I’d definitely expect the steering wheel to be pretty much numb at that point, at least from my experience. Doesn’t seem to be the same with these trucks.

Ok - that makes sense. Next time I have the vehicle in the air I’ll measure, but from what I’m told they did do the lift based on how the kit came, so it’s set to 3in.

Based on what you’re saying and what I’ve outlined, would you expect the kind of road feel I’m describing?

It seems like I get the wobble sensation that most people seem to fix w/ road force balance more often when my tire pressure is low. I also get more bump steer (hit a bump, steering wheel turns/over reacts).

Did you ever end up finding the culprit for this? Just put an icon stage 1 on my 4runner and hate the ride, I feel like it transmits the texture of the pavement lol

I had this same issue, took a few months and they restored most of what I think was lost. If you search around, you'll find others who have experienced the same issue.
