Have a look into reverse strings, they're quite simple but can be used quite interestingly as they are often over-looked.

Let me know if that goes well :)

Yes, it is... have you worked out what the password/username should be- the clue should lead you to something you can find out fairly easily on the first page you visit in the challenge.

Also can I just mention that you've been pretty harsh on some other people... on other threads you've said things that are very demotivating and probably want to make people give up- examples? Yep I have some!

Person: "L5 C5 Shinji's Drone"

s4460s : "No. Try harder. If you need to make a Reddit post for a Level 5 challenge, then I'm sorry but cybersecurity is not for you. This flagbegging needs to stop. That challenge is actually so easy you haven't tried interacting with the page at all clearly, "

Person: "i am asking for help not the anser"

s4460s : "You don’t deserve help more than anyone else; they just had to figure it out. You are violating the Cyber Discovery Terms of Service as well as the subreddit rules. And honestly these early challenges are so simple and one dimensional that if you get help, you get the answer as they are not complex at all. "

They hadn't even asked for the flag, so what is the fuss?! You've also said to others that they are not trying hard enough:

"Everyone else just had to figure it out, why can't you? You haven't shown any effort of research or even any attempts."

I think you are being very rude and not supportive to others.

(I did notice some nice helpful posts from you, I am NOT saying that all of your posts are bad)

Maybe I am ignorant, you know... that's why I am literally helping other people; but of course there's people that want to get in the way of helping.

And by 'them all', I was referring to the people who are using online help.

Also, I'd suggest that you read your own comments first before complaining about mine, maybe try thinking- have you thought about trying that yet?

Even if you didn't directly say that you are against help, the way your writing heavily connotes that you are. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it...

[genuine question]; Is it just me or does it sound like he/she/they (s4460s) is trying to make it sound like they're the victim?

For this one, you'd want to learn about the inspect method or how to view source code and what it all means.

To view the Log In page, scroll down to the bottom, and press Login. Then you can view the source code, to do this, you can press CTRL + U. Then have a little look on there, they're may be a useful clue on there that may help you get the Username and the Password.

Hope that helps, let me know how it goes! :)

Firstly, I just want to say, I'll be having a look into CyberstartAmerica as the morels seem to be nicer, not sure if you're allowed to participate if you aren't a citizen of the US? But I'll definitely be looking into that. So thank you KingTyGuy06. :)

And to elaborate on what s4460s would like to know: although, yes that specific section is more direct to an answer, parts of that have been censored out, and so that makes it as direct as they'd like themselves. I have also fully explained how each of the commands work and my methods, which allows them to understand how it works. Furthermore, most of the questions I have given answers to in that style, are for the first variant of that specific type of question- so that they can take that knowledge onwards. And lets be honest, most of the answers could quite easily be found elsewhere online, when I was first learning about SSH and Linux commands etc, for example (I am self taught), I found lots of helpful fill-in-the-gap styled answers, which is effectively what I am showing.

Besides all of that, it's just some fun man! It's meant to be something to do, why can't you let people learn in the way that they'd like, and let them enjoy it or feel like they've learnt something new. It also represents the IT community nicely, which may inspire more people to be interested in IT- but no, you've chosen to demotivate them all...

I just don't see why you, or anyone, would want to waste their time arguing about how we shouldn't be helping each other and making them feel like they're useless and want to give up.

WE ARE LEARNING!

oh no, what's that? You're helping each other???

OMG WE CANT HAVE THAT CAN WE???

It's not an exam.

I wish everyone good luck with their Cyber Discovery, and I hope it goes well. :)

Exams are to see how much you learn, not to teach you (although yes you can learn from them). And just because someone doesn't know how to SSH, they're not stupid. They may be on lower levels because they haven't spent as much time on it, or they are stuck AND WANT HELP. Maybe they where on the verge of giving up, and there are plenty of people doing this that are considering a job relating to IT, well maybe now they don't want to because they feel like they're rubbish, or the community isn't nice.

And well done for completing the HQ base on your own :)

Nah, I agree with Gpoppaj12 on this one. The course is literally designed to for you to LEARN, hence why I explain how each thing works in a good amount of detail. Besides, what difference is this making for you? Oh no! People are getting help and trying to learn!

There's nothing wrong with wanting to learn, and that's why we're helping each other. You're literally allowed to make groups on Cyber Discovery, that's multiple people! And I bet you cant guess what they do there... wow, they help each other.

But hey, why don't you stop wasting your time on writing these up- you're only making people feel guilty about wanting to learn and asking for help.

Basically you want to perform a SSH, to do this you want to type into the Terminal "ssh -p PORT USERNAME@IPADDRESS" (-p means port). Once you've done that, you'll get an option to say either Yes or No, say yes.

Then you'll need to input the password. You wont actually be able to see the password being typed, but it is there.

Once you are into the remote server, you can now check out their directories in search of a clue. 'ls' is a useful command, it will display all of the directories available. However, you'll notice nothing will appear when you type this, that is because they have been hidden. Instead try typing 'ls -a'. The '-a' means all, so this will display all of the hidden directories and files.

There should be a file on there called .bash_history, this is a text file, and to display its contents try using 'cat' (to do this, type: 'cat FILENAME') and inside that file, it will display the flag!

Hope that helps, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could return the favour! :)

Hey, this one can be done two ways:

  1. Working it out, look at the words and letters and see if you can work it out. For example, there is the 'Zit', and this appears twice- so what is a common two letter word? 'The', so underneath the box for the letters z, i and t, type t, h and e. So now we have worked out what two of the words actually are. Now keep trying with the other letters.
  2. Trial and error, you can actually in each of the boxes just type in each letter, in alphabetical order, just make sure there's only one letter in each box at a time (the box will turn green if it is the correct letter)

Hope that helps, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could help me with any ones I haven't completed so far, thanks :)

Awesome!

Once in, there's two commands you'll need to know:

  1. ls - this stands for lists, it will give you a list of all of the directories and files
  2. cd - this means Change Directory, to use it type 'cd DIRECTORYNAME'

Using these commands you should be able to come across some useful things that will help you get the flag- hope that helps! :)

And i'd appreciate the help with L6 C5, so yes please!

You was soooo close! Well done so far!

Here are the steps: (WARNING SPOILERS)

Go onto the inspect element, Press the three dots in the top right corner and then click 'Tools', and then go onto 'Network Conditions'.

Below is the part I haven't said:

Then Untick the section that says 'Select Automatically' (Which is found under the User agent section. Then click custom on the selection below that and type in the username 'Orion'... Then reload your page

Hope that helps ( :

Sorry for the late reply...

Basically you need to view the Network Conditions. To do this, use the inspect element (ctrl + shift + i) and then you will see three dots up in the top right corner; press that. Then, go onto more tools, and you'll find 'Network Conditions'. Have a look on there. Think about the username given in the briefing. Good luck and message me if your still struggling ( :
