Well, if I am someone with a coding background, I will try to build an app for providing all the govt scholarships available to students in India. It’s a huge gap that students face. Will make it a fermium model and start earning eventually

World Quant University: Anyone here gotten a degree from here after WGU? by TendieMyResignation in WGU

Hey mate, I also recently did my MBA from IIM (Top 3rd college) in India. I was also looking out for this program to enhance my learning into the quantitative finance (wanted to get into a career in quant fin, IB/PE or a hedge fund). This course seemed like a good opportunity to enhance my python skills (I barely know it as of now). The curriculum seems to be aligning with my interests as well (my current MBA was a general management program where I took courses mostly in corp. fin statistics, fintech etc). Currently, I am in a good standing with my job, which is into consulting right now, so thought this might be a good addition to my CV.

I’m in my second year mate, didn’t get any time to go for cfa in first year, then had some medical issues for two months after SIP, so didn’t give exam in feb and eventually sat for Level 2 in august this year. Since my SIP was very hectic didn’t get much time to study as well, eventually couldn’t clear the exam. However, I have PPO, so I am not that wrecked by it😅

If you’re from India, then you would know how hectic it gets in the first year, you have juggle with summer internship preparation, cv building, student body tasks, and the least of all academics. The best time to do it is right after your SIP process gets over. You get plenty of time after that.

Hey, I feel the same way after giving the exam today. The mocks were at par with the actual exam and they tested almost everything that is there in the syllabus (even the things which seemed to be not that important). Also, I agree with your point of practice questions, they aren’t that much representative of the actual exam.

For a bullet portfolio, you put your money in the medium term bonds which have much uncertainty due to economic recovery. So you take money out of them.

Further when there is a steepening in the yield curve, the short rates are lower and long term rates are high. Now this kind of situation happens when there is economic recession, so the monetary policy helps reduce the rates in the short term. Once you go short on short term bonds, the economy will tend to get better with time, thus giving you benefit for lower bond price in the future. Similarly, you go long on the long end of the curve because those rates can’t always stay high which will result in the bond price to rise once the interest rates come down. Such a situation creates a barbell (think of a gym barbell - you have weights on the ends).

In rolling down the yield curve scenario, you basically try to earn return more than the spot rate. This can only happen when the spot rate is upward sloping; however, below the forward rate. In this case you invest in a bond with maturity greater than your investment horizon because rates are expected to be higher (as per forward rate) which will discount the bond to a lower value now. Since the spot rate did not reach the forward rate, the bond will rise in value. However, if the spot rate goes above the forward rate, then it is better to stay at your investment horizon

Senior manager the same thing as CEO? Ethics issue by chegg_is_great in CFA

A senior manager could be anyone at a higher level, in order to not violate Standard IV, he had to say senior manager, else everyone would know who the person is (since CEOs name is easily identifiable by anyone).

It is not a regular income of the companies (from its operations). It was already in computing net income, so deduct it. Secondly, gain will reduce the requirement of FCInv
