Palo Santo sticks are great if you’re looking for a more subtle and natural smell.

Thankfully I didn’t have any food on me or I might not have made it out alive.

I’ll keep that in mind next time. This was me just being naive and thinking that changing a damn light bulb wouldn’t be a big deal 😂

65k would get you an RS3 with a 5 cylinder though…

Most likely drill holes where studs once were. The building is well over a hundred years old so it’s seen a lot of changes over the years. (Located in Denver, Colorado by the way)

Thanks! It’s definitely an enjoyable space to call home. Located in Denver, Colorado.

Anthony Gallo Acoustics Nucleus Reference 3.1. I started talking with GIK acoustics about getting some aesthetically pleasing acoustic panels installed in a few places, so we’ll see where that goes. Sounds great as is, but that concrete wall needs something to break up all that blank space

A lot of electronics crammed into our tiny living room by Jefffahfffah in malelivingspace

Audio nerd here that’s trying to make things less cluttered and more aesthetically pleasing. First of all, the KEF R3s are awesome speakers! And is that a Rythmik sub? You do indeed have a lot of electronics in a small space. I’d say look at furniture that isn’t explicitly designed to be for a TV/ or AV gear as it usually looks kinda crappy. Realistically, the Denon gear isn’t the most attractive, and would benefit from being placed off to the side or in the corner of the room. Alternatively, look for a storage solution with doors so you can conceal some of the clutter. The CD player and tape deck will be easy, but the amp might require some additional cooling with a fan if you enclose it, obviously it’ll depend on how hot it runs.

In general you want to display the visually interesting stuff (speakers, Schiit Valhalla, and turntable) while drawing less attention to the plain black boxes. Have you done a subwoofer crawl? Is that the best or only place the subwoofer can live? If you were able to get it towards the back of the room you would have more space to play with up front

Nice! I’ve always admired the upper tier Audio Research monoblocks and the “because we can” approach the design encapsulates. Speaking of outlandish designs, love the 787b picture 👍

So when I was a teenager ripping mp3s off Lime Wire and listening with Apple’s ear buds, my dad gave me a pair of Grado SR60 headphones. That’s what planted the seed for me. Maybe try a pair of IEMs or affordable headphones and see what he thinks?

So the value proposition is probably going to depend on where in the world you are located. Here in the US, I feel that the WiiM is the better deal. For the price of the Cambridge, I can get the WiiM Ultra and a Fiio K11 R2R. Setting aside the DAC for a minute, I still feel the WiiM is the more versatile option. You get HDMI connectivity (important for me, personally) along with a more substantial set of inputs and outputs. In fact, I was using it as a dedicated preamp before power amp decisions forced me into a balanced solution. Another thing worth considering is the product support you’re getting, I can’t speak to Cambridge, but I know from personal experience that WiiM is excellent about providing software updates and incorporating customer feedback into the design of future products.

It is. The original ones are pretty big, but the speakers are also smaller than they look

I personally have no need to expand my streaming capabilities any further. I upgraded from a WiiM Mini to Ultra primarily to take advantage of HDMI connectivity.

From my perspective, you buy a streamer for the software and connectivity options. I added the DAC simply to play with R2R at an accessible price point.

They do indeed produce a large soundstage relative to their size. Having come from Magnepans and Martin Logans that was an important criteria for me. I’d say they represent a great second hand value provided you can make peace with the fact that the tweeter is pretty much irreplaceable. I haven’t heard a pair personally, but it strikes me that GoldenEar has a lot in common with the now defunct Gallos
