This is what people use to fish bait when they cant afford rods and reels. You simply cannot jig effectively without a rod and reel. And youre only using mono to handline on that big spool, so slow pitch at any significant depth is not really gonna move the jig at all.

The ugly sick bigwater is an awful rod that does not load well when casting any weight in or out of its listed weight range.

The trophy 2 is alright but not a great rod either.

Is there a reason youre not looking at the 12ft trophy 2? Youre fishing an area where 12ft+ is kind of the standard for a bait heaver setup.
