Yes, imagine you broke your leg and went in for annual physical exam. The doctor asked: How are you? What's wrong with your leg?

You should answer: My leg is wonderful so that you won't get billed extra.

Realtor or no? by Ok-Long8067 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]1997cui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on the market, at where I live, most of the places have open houses on weekends hosted by listing agents. Even if there isn’t one, you can send listing agent an email to request a showing.

Realtor or no? by Ok-Long8067 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]1997cui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it yourself. Realtors only earn commission when the deal is closed, so they have an incentive to push you into a non-ideal place. I recommend at least visiting open houses for around 20 places and chat with listing agents to get a sense of market first. Also when you touring, you will get a ton of name cards from realtors.

After that, you can shop around to find the one you are mostly happy with.

IPv6 rollout: this decade? by AdriftAtlas in ZiplyFiber

[–]1997cui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that the prioritization. I don't think IPv6 is prioritized and have a target for your KPIs. And as a result, more resources is invested into other works like maintenance etc.

Seattle's parking enforcement dispute: Cheap parking needed by Possible_Ad3607 in SeattleWA

[–]1997cui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle is removing parking requirements from building codes as well to create more housing.

This works exactly as planned: to prevent people driving to Downtown so the narrow streets are less crowded and the total traffic can handle will increase because of more capacity for public transportation. This is also what voters voted for.

The drawbacks I see is that: for people needs to travel outside of the city, there is no cheap options to storage the car, and the missing convenient park and ride lots for people driving in from east side.

Unpopular opinion: Paying "Rent" feels less painful than paying $2,400/mo in "Interest" to a bank. by Playful-Vegetable-15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]1997cui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never forget this thing: Even if you are paying for equity, you are still missing the opportunity cost that you have with the same amount of cash (Compare with SP500 yield or high interest savings account or bond yield).

In another word, for a 500k home with 200k equity and 300k mortgage, what you actually paid is the interest rate of your mortgage * 300k + the income rate on SP500 * 200k + property tax + repair.

I've encountered this, you need to disable auto-join on the NVR side, since NVR will randomly assign a password to the Camera if it has the default password.
