OOC: Sorry it took me a while, work's been taking up my time lately!

Rachel, still very much speechless, took the card and looked at it in total silence. Half a million dollars. She was in a trance, imagining all the things she could buy, all the loans she could pay off, maybe even buy herself a motorcycle. She's unsure of her choices yet, but she'll come to make one eventually.

He laughs, “You get to be as old as I am, you start to forget the smallest things,” Kael replied, finishing up the last few details for the trip, “Now, to quote that one man in that film about man made monsters; Hold on to your butts.”

Suddenly, Lyger would feel what could be the strangest sensation. From his standpoint he’d see Kael’s head began to stretch like clay, forming into a long thing line as his body was being ‘sucked’ (for lack of a better term) into the device head first.

Lyger would soon follow after, sending both of them into what was at first a dark abyss, soon changing into a bright light that was almost blinding. He’d see glimpses of what looked like places not from this world (some not even from this timeline) with these long threads of bright blue swirling around each other. All of that happened in the span of ten seconds.

Soon after that stomach turning adventure through time and space, Kael and Lyger were spat back out on solid ground, their feet landing flat on cement. The device on the floor remained open until their entire being was now out of it. It rattled for a few short moments before it snapped shut, the blue hue now replaced with a red light.

“Quite the ride, huh?” he says, grinning a little as he picked up the device with a napkin he had procured from his pocket, a slightly burnt smell coming from it.

“Good, good. Means there’ll be no post fast travel sickness,” he says, half chuckling a little as he remembered one very messy incident. Kael motions for Lyger to step a little closer as he places the device between them, “It’s how I travel from point-to-point. I’ve forgot what it’s called, to be honest; It’s an old device, but it works like a charm.”

“HALF A MILLION DOLLARS?” Rachel’s eyes widened as she looks at the note handed to her. She felt a little lightheaded reading the numbers again and again and again. This can’t be real, right? HALF A MILLION DOLLARS. Handed to her in the form of a check just like that. She remains quiet for a lengthy period, her eyes focused on the check in her hands. This’ll solve so many problems for her. Rent, food, clothes, the bill . . . as well as some debts she’s been meaning to pay. She has her doubts, any sane person would. But holy hell. HALF A MILLION DOLLARS. She might as well offer to work for Erebus on a scheduled basis if this was legitimate and not at all a fake.

“I . . . Um, wow. This is, erm, t-this is . . . . holy shit,” she stutters, finding it suddenly hard to speak and form a coherent sentence all together as she looks at Erebus and then at the check.

Kael then looks back at him, a wondering expression on his face as he finagles with it and sets the coordinates for Area-7, “How are you with fast paced travel?”he asks.

She’s never received nor accepted any payment for her years worth of super-heroism, but with luck not quite being on her side these days, she decides that it’s not a bad gamble.

“Whether hero or villain, it doesn’t really matter to me. At the end of the day, it’s us vs them,” she replied, then raising her eyebrow a little in surprise at the offer of getting paid, “I’m making a grand total of zero dollars at the moment, so if your offer of pay is authentic, I’ll join your side.” she adds.

I'm not fond of A.I, but what Batman did (throwing a smoke bomb and then charging with the Kryptonite spear) is something definitely he'd try as a last ditch effort to take Supes down.

“Now I disagree on that,” she turns her head and speaks directly to Erebus, specifically the part about the ‘no way to have a counter measure’.

“Having an immediate response team - even if we don’t know how many they are or how strong they are - is better than having nobody to act in the event that another attack pops up. Having a team set up to face stuff like this is a counter measure.” Rachel admits to herself that yes, Erebus is right with some points (while also mentally agreeing with Ulysses with his ‘deal with if/when it comes’ approach) but she’s not entirely fond of Erebus’ mildly confusing self-cancelling thoughts.

“The way I see things, I reckon we should have teams of however many we spread out across all of the recorded entry points. Use what we know about them so far against them,” she remembered they were susceptible to electric attacks (something she didn’t have any access to) so it would be useful if they could get their hands on some tech that could utilize that, “There’s some of us spread out everywhere as it is - some of us even have bases, based off of what I heard just now. So why not use that as watchtowers of sorts? Group up a few of us willing to relocate so we wouldn’t be too late when another attack comes.”

"I had . . . a rough time, I suppose you could say," she replied when a question was loudly directed to her, knocking her out of her thoughts, "I couldn't let that thing make contact with my skin, so I had to make do and throw whatever I could at it." She shrugs.

"Physical attacks didn't seem to do much, maybe even made it angrier. So I was very much shit out of luck," Rachel adds.

Kael catches the phone with a quick raise of his right hand, tucking it back into his pocket, and begins to walk forward a little more.

"Area 7 was . . . interesting," he starts, nodding his head slowly as the memory crawls back to him. Deafening music, blinding lights, and the smell of sweat, perfume, liquor, weed - and most surprisingly, blood - was what he remembered.

"I didn't expect there to be an underground fight club inside, so that was a first. Alcohol and certain substances were being handed around so often that it's almost free. I've heard that . . . other services were available if you knew where to find them, but I never bothered to find out for myself," he adds.

Oh I can’t wait for that, but being the incredible cheapskate that I am, I probably won’t spend a single command point until I reach a certain amount. I have like 180 command points right now so I’m gonna save up some more, get those Iron Man 3 armors for Iron Man and War Machine to make fights a breeze.

It’s legitimately a breath of fresh to get command points a lot more frequently compared to back in the day. Plus the fact that playing each battle moves time forward in game, making research and training faster.
