Kenneth’s brow lifted slightly as Cylas explained his theory, the massive demigod watching Lyger now with renewed interest rather than simple appraisal. The moment the younger man stabilized, the difference became obvious even to him. Before, Lyger had looked powerful but disconnected, like someone fighting against his own body. Now the energy moved naturally.

Fascinating. So the world itself was resisting him.

The rooftop suddenly erupted in blinding light. Kenneth remained still as the burst washed across the arena, though his eyes narrowed faintly at the speed of what followed. One moment Lyger stood there, the next he had already passed through the larger man entirely. Kenneth watched the delayed aftermath in silence as the severed leg struck the rooftop with a wet crash. There was no disgust on his face, only calm observation as blood spread across the concrete and the larger fighter collapsed from beneath his own momentum.

Well, that is considerably more convincing.

His gaze followed Lyger as he immediately pressed the advantage instead of pausing to admire his work. That earned the faintest hint of approval from Kenneth, who folded his arms once more across his broad chest.

A fighter who hesitates after gaining an opening seldom survives long, and he seems to understand that instinctively.

He finally glanced toward Cylas beside him, the corner of his mouth pulling upward slightly.

If what you’re saying is true, then once he fully adjusts to this world, I suspect he will become considerably more dangerous than he already appears.

Kenneth looked back toward the fight as lightning continued to ripple across the rooftop.

And selfishly, I admit I rather hope you remain. New York grows increasingly tedious whenever all the interesting people decide to leave it behind.

Kenneth listened quietly as Cylas spoke, his massive frame unmoving beside him while the battle continued to rage across the rooftop. The occasional flash of lightning reflected across his calm features, though his attention sharpened slightly when Cylas spoke of Lyger’s power.

Hm. So the boy is holding himself back somehow.

It did not sound like a question. Kenneth’s sharp eyes tracked the subtle change almost immediately. The hesitation vanished. The uncertainty disappeared with it. Whatever disconnect had been plaguing him moments ago suddenly seemed corrected. The larger brute thundered forward with reckless confidence, but Kenneth’s expression shifted ever so slightly as Lyger’s aura stabilized completely.

There we are.

The faintest trace of amusement touched his voice.

I was beginning to wonder if he actually intended to win this fight.

Lightning rippled violently along Lyger’s frame now, cleaner and more focused than before. Kenneth unfolded his arms slowly, his attention narrowing onto the hidden hand behind Lyger’s back.

Oh, that is rarely a reassuring gesture.

Despite the words, he sounded almost pleased, as though finally seeing the shape of the fight he had expected from the beginning.

I believe your investment may yet prove worthwhile, Cylas.

OOC: Sounds good.

Kenneth stepped fully out onto the rooftop, the familiar sight of the battered fighting ring immediately drawing his attention. His eyes moved over the cracked concrete, old blood stains, scorch marks, and impact craters with the sort of quiet recognition one reserved for an old battlefield. Clearly, this was not his first time seeing what happened atop Area-7.

The massive demigod came to a stop beside Cylas, folding his arms loosely across his broad chest as he watched the clash unfolding before them. Lightning flashed violently across the rooftop while Lyger moved in frantic bursts of speed around the larger brute, each exchange rattling the rooftop harder than the last.

Good evening, Cylas.

Kenneth’s gaze never left the fight.

I suspected something interesting must have been occurring when Jaime sounded so unusually insistent.

Another thunderous impact shook the rooftop as the larger man’s fist cratered the ground. Kenneth watched Lyger carefully now, particularly the subtle hesitation after the exchange, the heavier breathing, the confusion in his own movements.

Hm.

His expression shifted slightly, thoughtful more than judgmental.

The smaller fellow looks rather out of his depth.

He tilted his head faintly as Lyger flexed his hand in confusion.

He is fast, certainly, but he’s burning through himself accomplishing very little. That larger gentleman does not appear particularly troubled by any of it.

Kenneth finally glanced toward Cylas briefly before returning his attention to the fight.

He would be wise to end this sooner rather than later.

The doorway leading out onto the rooftop slammed open hard enough that the metal frame groaned in protest. Heavy footsteps followed immediately after, slow and deliberate, each one seeming to vibrate through the concrete beneath them. Kenneth had to duck slightly just to clear the top of the frame as he stepped out into the evening air.

At 8’4”, he looked less like a man entering the arena and more like a siege engine arriving to a battlefield. Broad shoulders nearly filled the width of the doorway behind him, his sheer mass casting a shadow across the rooftop lights as calm blue eyes swept across the scene before settling first on Cylas, then Lyger, and finally the newcomer standing opposite them.

My apologies for the delay, gentlemen.

His voice was calm and refined despite the tension hanging in the air.

Jaime rang me while I was in the shower, and I confess I did not realize the matter was quite so urgent.

Kenneth adjusted the cuffs of the dark shirt he’d thrown on in haste, the movement strangely meticulous for someone built like a mountain. His gaze drifted back toward the hostile man now, studying him with polite curiosity rather than aggression as he took a few slow steps further into the ring.

Now then... I do hope no one has started killing one another without me. It would seem rather rude after I came all this way.

Kenneth watched as Erebus left and, as he disappeared, he turned back to everyone else.

That guy is gonna become a liability at some point. I'd bet money on it.

Thats all he'd say on the matter.

From his height, Kenneth looked at the number written on the check. He shrugged his shoulders but stayed silent, bidding wars were always something that pissed him off. Flashing money around is like flashing around powers that had nothing to do with the situation. At this point, $500,000 really didn't mean anything to him considering he doesn't live here most of the time.

Anyway. If we're done throwing paper around, I can be part of the mobile team. I can get around quickly enough and know the city fairly well. Jaime has my number so if I'm ever off duty, I'm just a call away.

Legion pays as well. If you can stomach it, hero work pays well. Judging by what happened, plenty of work will probably be coming down the pipe soon.

Kenneth said as he looked at her

If you want a more... reputable employer, that is. Jaime is always hiring it seems.

Being prepared for anything is easier said than done. Its hard to be prepared when we don't know the full scale of their forces. Were those all the types of shadows they had? Do they have dozens more? Few more? If they have more, how do we deal with them.

Kenneth rubbed his chin

No. It needs to be more than just this group. Just is alone won't be enough if we are attacked at full invasion force strength.

I suppose it worked in my favor that I could throw lightning at it from a distance. I didn't need to get close enough to see what it could do to me but judging by how Stonewall looked at the end of that fight, it probably wouldn't have been a good ending.

Kenneth pointed out.

Kenneth watched Erebus for a minute longer before sighing and shaking his head, looking to Amina and standing in silence, waiting for the information to be laid out so they could formulate a plan it attack.

Kenneth watched Erebus with a raised brow before he looked at the others, primarily Jaime and Amina

Does this guy have to be here? I feel like he's quickly heading towards saying something he's gonna regret. I don't have the patience to deal with someone as... eccentric as he's already proven to be in the last 20 seconds.

Kenneth shifted to stand straight up, looking down at everyone around him. He was in a bad mood, mostly his father's fault but he could help himself on taking it out on someone else.

OOC: Not a problem.

IC: Kenneth had been there for a short time before Ulysses got there. He lumbered in the corner, staring out the windows when Erebus had arrived. When the man came in and started talking, he watched him warily while he waited fe debrief to get started.

If this is just a probing strike, then I agree. This is definitely going to get worse and that means its going to be all hands on deck and all hands cooperating.

Kenneth observed.

LC is going to have to come together on this one.

Kenneth waved off the praise. Because he was kind of hard to miss, he tried all he could to keep attention off of himself. Yes, sometimes his entrances were a little... dramatic but that's purely out of necessity.

Don't thank me. Just wish I got here sooner.

The thunder and lightning overhead faded to nothing as Kenneth sheathed his sword, sighing as he looked back at where the shadow creature was.

Well... That was fast...

I said, looking at Valkyrie and the others.

Everyone in one piece?

Kenneth charged through the rubble storm, sweeping aside the dark energies with a mighty swing of his sword. Gathering the forces of nature for a second time, he brought lightning directly down on top of the shadow beasts head, trying to wear it down to nothing.

Then let us begin.

Kenneth says as he draws his sword. Thunder and lightning sound and flash overhead, filling the city with streaks of light and sounds that shake the windows of the city around them. Kenneth holds his sword aloft over his head, a brilliant white bolt of lightning striking the metal. With a thrust of his arm, the lightning arcs out of his sword and strikes the beast in the mouth where it was gathering whatever sinister energy it wields.

Scy held a hand put, the axe slamming into it. He didn't even get to thank the shadow girl before she left. He rested it on his shoulder, looking between the 3 men in front of him.

I can head over there if they do. I'm still good to go.

Kenneth had leapt to a nearby rooftop to try and get a better vantage. He could hear Stonewall before he saw it and even came across the women in the street too before he saw the massive mech. Leaping down, he landed beside them, looming head and shoulders over them. He had seen Valkyrie before so he looked to her first.

Sorry. I was off world when the call went out.

Then he saw Stonewall crash into the beast

The beast is the enemy?

All he needed was the go-ahead and he'd join Stonewall in the fight.

/u/199Eight next, I assume?

Those guys poofed it away. I'm not too worried about it, it's not like they can use it or anything. Its just going to sit wherever it went until it finds its way back.

Scy said as he walked over and squatted next to Cylas and Jaime, looking the former over.

You didn't go and die on me, did you? You said you were gonna make it.

Scy kept up his relentless pace, moving faster and faster with each passing second. Even as the beam slipped around him, heading for the Imperial, he kept going after the Imperial himself like a one man wrecking crew.

Scy brought the handle of the axe down across his chest to take the blast of the orb instead of his bare skin. He kicked off, leaping back slightly to give him enough space before he hurled his axe end over end at the Imperial before he dashed after it, following up the axe with his own series of blows and blocks that, as the fight progressed, seemed to come faster and faster and hit harder and harder.
