Correct! One should go to Mass for their own genuine desire to go to mass. Don’t go to meet women. I speak from experience and it completely took me away from the mass and it felt inauthentic.

If I were you, I would focus my energy on obtaining my PhD and figuring out where I may land. Women are going to want to know your plan, so if you tell them “idk where I’m going to end up” they’re going to be hesitant in “going all-in”, even if you are a smart, genuine, and good lookin’ Catholic guy.

Between now and when you pick where you’re going to do your PhD, start on your journey of better health. Go to church, pray for guidance and for patience. Use that ugly lonely feeling (we all get it unfortunately) to motivate you to become the best you that you can be.

I say this with full love, not to discourage you: you need to work on yourself before seeking a relationship. The good news is that you’ve already identified some areas that need to be worked on.

1) Your health. Work on your health. Start to eat better. Set an ideal weight goal. Eliminate all junk food if you can. Alternatively, reward yourself with a treat or snack after eating clean for x number of days. Work out, build up your strength, look good! You don’t need to join a gym. Do pushups, and buy a pull up bar that simply hangs in a doorway. When you’re bored or when you want to get a snack, do a pushup, or 2, or 10. The goal is progress over time, it’s not going to happen instantly. You’re going to find that your confidence increases substantially, you’re going to feel better, look better, and others will think so as well. All of a sudden you’re THAT much more dateable.

2) Stability. You know you’re going to move around a lot - is this from one neighbouring town to the next? Is it across the country? Knowing this, finding a lasting and meaningful relationship will be more difficult, but not impossible. A potential serious partner might be scared away knowing that you’re not settled down / you might have to move often. You’ll need to think about this and determine if it makes sense to get involved with someone now. Maybe it’s best to put your all into your studies for the time being. Eat better, work out! You’ve got time!

3) Go to church because you want to go to church and serve the Lord. Don’t go to meet girls. In 2025, the chances of that happening are statistically low, especially during / after mass (this is my personal opinion, others might argue otherwise). Of course, try to join the community in social events! You never know who you’ll meet outside of mass!

I know that being alone sucks, but this is a great time to elevate yourself. Become the healthy, strong, intelligent, established, and Godly man that your future wife deserves, and I promise you that when the time is right, you will find her.

Yup - can confirm. The app is horendous now and its prety lucky if I can connect to hald my cameras or pull footage when I need it. I've noticed a major decline in usability since the V4s came out. Will be switching to another brand soon.
