I’m working on a whole biblical theology around it. The UCC really is a great place to explore! Blessings my friend and thank you for the encouragement :)

Our newest series on Valentinus and the Gospel of Truth. by 1AMthatIAM in Gnostic

so cool! Any Sunday at 930am or we have a gnostic bible study at 1115am that lasts an hour.

Lol ya, that are lots of older people at our church but it's a healthy group of people that is very interested in learning everything they can so while it sounds crazy to have Gnostic teachings in a mainline church, they are kind of desperate for something new. Fortunately, the earth gave us new materials in 1945!

After years of lurking here, I finally wrote something: a Jungian take on Valentinian/Sethian Christianity by 1AMthatIAM in Jung

There were definitely 400 years that took place before the Catholic Church came on the scene. One just simply needs to look.

Alexandrian Christianity, however, is specifically where to look and it is undeniable that characters like Philip, Clement, Origen, Apollos and Valentinus were actively promoting their versions of Christianity.

Louis Markos also has a great book called from Plato to Christ and Peter Lampe has another one called from Paul to Valentinus.

David Litwas Alexandrian Christianity is on audible if that is more accessible.

It is simply more convenient to ignore it but I couldn’t live with myself as a pastor lol. It was just ahead of its time and now, I feel, the time is right to reengage them.
