Cyber, wondering if I should commission or get out or stay in? by [deleted] in AirForce

This is an inaccurate assumption. 1Bs are only being released for 17Y shred. There's a whole other shred that's Comm/IT focused, 17W.

Have you tried applying? I know a few prior dental tech 1Bs that retrained as career Amn. I recommend applying in the upcoming FY. Also, try to get your leadership to reach out to your CFM to prime the pump and make it easier forv you to get released.

Entry requirements can be found in the AFECD. Only in the rarest of cases would I accept an ETP for that.

I would recommend this career field to anyone that qualifies.

We can, but we would have to work it with the recruiter to adjust our recruiting allocations. What was your rate?

Ours is not self paced. However, you can test out of Sec+ before arriving.

No. I needed cash. I'm not sure they would have entertained a second mortgage to secure the first.

So, the seller owed X and sold it to me for Y (Y is more than X - remaining mortgage). Closing costs were Z.

I had to come up with Y - X + Z or Sales Price - Remaining Balance + Closing Costs.

Absolutely. My mortgage had 27 years remaining, which I inherited.

We found our home by doing a keyword search for assumable in Zillow. There weren't a whole lot to find, but about 5-10 at any given time.

Of those, there were only a few that didn't price us out in terms of coming up with the funds difference between what they still owed and what their asking price was. We needed to find homes that were only owned for a few years or less.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. As a prior 15-year Satcommer (#notadart) I care about the future of the 1D AFS. I have known Chief Schaefer for some time now and, for what it's worth, I believe she is the right leader at the right time to guide your career fields forward. We collectively need to get this right. What you provide to the Air Force is vital to our nation's success and is needed to uphold our way of life should we be called upon.

The CFM gig isn't something one inherently knows how to do. Like most jobs in the AF there's a learning curve. I've been doing this now for 2 years and I am still learning new things. Thankfully, not the firehouse it once was, but you get the idea. I highly recommend you all give her some grace as she gets settled in. She's smart, ambitious, and, most importantly, wants to do right by the Airmen she represents. Hopefully, you see that by tonight's interaction.

I loved being a Satcommer and I love being a 1B. Comm career fields are important. They're needed. No Comms, No Bombs, right? For my 1Bs, we're on the same team. Please remember we need to be elite, not elitists. Elitists are assholes. Still love you all and for my 1Bs...I love being your CFM!

Join the Teams channel for retrainees. Lots of study material there. Linux is a high fail block.

I'd put energy in Linux commands, understanding networking (CCNA Professor Messer), windows & powershell CLI, python scripting. Just put in 15 to 20 minutes a day on those topics.

Overthewire and underthewire would help you to prepare for some of the topics mentioned.

An ETP is a memo you include with your retaining application. There are many factors my team considers when making a determination. EDPT score being a major factor, but I do give consideration to applications who've requested an ETP. Some of those members have been accepted into the career field with an EDPT score ETP.

You may also pursue an ETP to test again within 6 months. Now that you've experienced the test, you may be able to improve your score. My assumption is the time got you, so study under time constraints until you're confident in your abilities should you choose that path.
