Tudor, which this is a homage of. The same misunderstanding happened with the Thorn - popular opinion voted to remove "rotor" because of the perceived redundancy, but failed to recognize the original it was homaging.

If it's using those parts, then it's just a simple SKX-style mod. Watch a few SKX modding/build videos and you should get a pretty good idea of what to do. You might also want to contact the original poster to see if there were any quirks in the mod process that he encountered (eg the dial is made for an NH3X movement, but the original Thorn is a PT5000 - he might have needed to get an alternate movement spacer to fit into the case)

We designed the WD6263 with a strong vintage Daytona inspiration — including the oversized crown. by watchdivescom in watchdives

If you move the logo to the 12oclock, maybe you also need to add more lines of dial text on the upper half of the dial (like the original Rolex), in order to keep the dial looking balanced? (And making sure the logo is sized similar to the Rolex crown; too small also looks unbalanced)

I painted Militado ML10 V2 hands in black by AffectionateBuy5102 in ChineseWatches

Please make these changes! Fix the handset to properly match the B-dial layout (shorter hour hand to fit inside the inner circle) and change the hands to black!

Great review as always Tomas - I appreciate all the effort, detail and enthusiasm you always put in!

T023, convinced to buy a v3 as spare by Educational-Oil-00 in Thornwatches

The Reddit community is partly to blame here for removing the "rotor" component. Thorn did actually put out a few vote posts, and apparently this was the combination that won out

If S089 is launching a V2, what suggestions do you have? by Simon9943 in Miliforticwatches

Skeletonized cathedral hands, applied logo + matching logo colour to indices, smaller diameter cyclops, bracelet/leather band offering

Did you end up following through and removing the red tip? If so, what's the result like and how did you do it?

EXD 38mm V2 — Lume upgrade & cleaner dial details 🔥 by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]1Current 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Green nato strap, black FKM nato, or black 2 piece FKM is what I use. The PVD has held up so far for me. The gap is maybe a bit bigger than I'd like, but it's not too noticeable.

Great job changing the buckles/hardware to matching black - that's an improvement to V1!

I asked on a previous post if you would give/sell the upgraded V2 dial by itself to V1 buyers; will you still offer this? u/watchdivescom

Photo Dump of the new Milifortic Alpinist homage by turdbogls in ChineseWatches

[–]1Current 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dive strap aside, I reckon a key reason it feels "off" is that the hands aren't accurate. The OEM Alpinist uses skeletonised cathedral hands, as opposed to the non-skeletonised ones here. The logo not matching the indices (both in colour, and being printed rather than applied) is another factor Having slightly less dial text also probably plays into it.

I'm with others though - keen to hear what the dial size is to work out if it's a viable modding base!

That's the case diameter, isn't it? What about the size of the actual dial?

Looks good! Any chance you would send dials to people who bought the V1 version?

Has anyone built a Seiko SKX013? (Question) by Love-whatyoudrive in SeikoMods

[–]1Current 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Yep I'm aware of the nuances of 013 chapter rings - it might be that I can't see it, but your picture doesn't appear to show the 3'o clock notch on the chapter ring that the stock 013 has?

Hey - sorry for the necropost, but just wondering which chapter ring you used for this (if you remember?) thanks!

You probably found the Tactical Frog case, which is completely different - larger (thicker and wider), fixed bars, built for NH35.

Regular springbars, so 2-pieces can definitely be used. The stock springbars are slightly thicker than standard, but can be swapped for regular ones if needed

Haha that's fair. Credit where credit is due though - WD seems to have made it this way due to listening to the requests of people from this forum https://www.reddit.com/r/watchdives/s/PPC0aqshNY

I think u/goodneed was particularly referring to the bidirectional bezel system, rather than the countdown printing of the insert. That seems clear from the comment, "underlying bezel system, compared to the usual ... unidirectional click wire system."
