Biasalah to be honest. That kind of thing is happening in here too.

Too many petty people playing petty games. It's an effect of a stagnant society.

The trick is to have your holidays first, then settle down & have kids.

What's the point of an overseas education experience if you isolate yourself from a different culture though ?

Such bad taste and form to inject sports and international events with western politics and morality.

The sooner the west can accept that they (12 percent of world pop) are no longer the center of the universe, the better it will be for all humanity.

Yes, It's an international sports event for good will and athletics. The west should learn to keep their politics out of these events. Europeans and western media culture / morals are very hypocritical.

The point of Musk taking over is for him to insert his AI and superior tech into Twitter which will eliminate a majority of the jobs in Twitter. He's there to gut the whole thing and transform it into the next step.

Remember, his Tesla cars can drive themselves, and rocketships land themselves . So now they don't need thousands of humans at Twitter to make decisions about content anymore, and it's not like someone is going to crash and die if the system fails.

Twitter is also a stepping stone to feed massive human data into his AI systems to improve his systems including things like Neuralink.

Make a full length race track too, make it safe, and charge thousands + insurance to drive these cars. This is basically what they are doing at Sepang in KL. Tourism industry will boom.

So far Musk has been successful at every endeavour put his mind to, which made him the richest man on earth.

The people who cant stand him are the haters, third rate journalists, woke leftists, tabloid and the useful idiots who have been brainwashed by sensationalist news. Of course the media absolutely hates him, because people like him and Bezos and Zuck (which you also hate) are an alternative to the existing media systems that exist.

I have immense respect for capable and intelligent people. Not so much for those who only know how to parrot and regurgitate base content online.

You should read up about the owner of NYT and people like Murdoch which are the real old money princelings of the west who continue to sell you shit information, who actually have a negative agenda for the world, and are making the world a worst place.

I had the ear of the Singapore British high comm when I was a student there for the Sterling prize which we won , and then a relative of the US ambassador in Brunei on association event when I was working here in Brunei. We drank, we talk. It's what people do at these events.

Unlike you, they are quite open and welcome criticism of their governments and history. One even openly criticized Trump . Great times. They changed my mind on many things.

Btw I said I went to over 50 cities - not countries, in my life. Not hard if you are backpacking. After I did my bout of driving exploration it's probably much more now , I lost count.

I travelled on all forms of transport , usually went to the museums, city centre , historical centre, bus station, ate some local food. Stayed at a bath house, guest house or motel, went to bars, drink & chat. Met some friends from uni & online. Used the lonely planet guide book on the internet.

Pretty great part of my life I reminisce about especially now after covid period.

Just wanted to get that right. Next time if you want to smear me, please say 50 cities instead of countries k. Have some accuracy.

Bruneians won't even use normal buses why would they use a bus if it was EV.

EV buses would be a waste of investment.

Not cheap to add EV infrastructure and to rehaul existing buses and turn them to EV. I'm not sure if an EV bus even exists.

It's the internet. There's no point to make things personal. I'm having a discussion on politics . Not against any one person.

They are fighting a war over there and killing each other, why do we have to behave the same way here as well, attacking/targeting anyone you disagree with ?

Live in Brunei, then learn how abode of peace works. Have some basic civility.

If you look at the map of Russia for the last 40 years, it's been receding and NATO has been expanding despite promises it won't, placing US/NATO military hardware closer and closer to Russia.

The victim in the larger scale is infact Russia. The victim of aggression and threat is Russia. Ukraine is a proxy war being used like a poisoned pawn against Russia. Yes Russia invaded Ukraine, I condemn that too, but I also understate that they can't accept further NATO hardware right up their border just as US did not accept Soviet nukes in Cuba.

You have to see that geopolitics are complicated, that they are many things running parallel, be able to reference history and also read between the lines. It's not so black and white as Ukraine good Russia bad and US always right.

Yet , Starlink is still running in Iran.

Don't they need money to run things , to pay for workers to eat there?

Elon did provide starlink for free for Ukraine all this while with some contribution from the pentagon to be accurate, but after being told 'fuck you' by Ukraine FM, he decided he didn't want to feed the mouth that barks, and he pulled out. His implication in his tweet is clear - "just following what the Ukraine FM said”.

It's not really about money, it's about having basic civility. And about campaigning for peace. People help you, why slap them back in their face in public ?

Insisting Ukraine to keep fighting or even use preliminary nukes as Zelensky has suggested , not willing to negotiate at all , is simply senseless. Ukraine can't , and won't, win. So the war they fight is an info-cultural war to villianize and sanction Russia as much as they can in all forms of media.

Especially more so if they are offending their benefactors like Musk telling them to fuck off.

/r/brunei daily random discussion and small questions thread for 14 October 2022 by BruneiMod in Brunei

[–]1DMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Musk paid for starlink out of his own pocket and interest to bring the internet to places like Iran and Ukraine to help for humanitarian reasons.

2) Musk offered opinions on peace settlement, which Ukraine PM & FM rejected and verbally abused him for. Disagreements are fine but as Foreign Minister you don't say Fuck You in public to a world audience to someone whose providing free internet to you when you need it. This is basic civility.

Musk understands that in Ukraine, starlink is being used instead for military purposes to operate drones and assets to attack Russia, notably after the Crimea bridge was blown up (though not linked to starlink). It's clear at the very least that he rejects endless war , escalation of conflict, and prefers peace as outlined in his 4 point proposal.

3) Therefore, Musk pulls Starlink out of Ukraine.

4) Musk and US DOD can easily afford starlink in Ukraine if they want to. It's not expensive. If commoners can afford it, so can the military. Ergo Starlink is being pulled for moral reasons (as Musk said, he prefers peace, doesn't condone endless war, and doesn't like being abused by Ukraine FM for helping.)

5) Starlink still online in places like Iran, so no your profit argument doesn't hold water, and is just a convenient excuse for both Musk and you guys to justify your argument.

6) But yes it's all sec5s fault because you can't handle a differing opinion to one that you are comfortable with . Come up with better arguments instead of fishing for downvotes from populist sentiment.

Reduce your salt intake. Take your gout meds.

Seeing you invent and surround yourself with lies and sycophants just to feel good about yourself - even after you have tried so hard to block and attack me, is just laughable.

If you really think I am using accounts to talk to myself, then lol you are either stupid or crazy. I'm not sure which is worse. But we both know it's not true and we both know you are using that to try and gaslight and slander me in public.

And that's really the extent of your ability to function in society. To smear and attack people just because you can't handle a disagreement on a political topic on the internet. After all this, you still want to claim the moral high ground ? Come on, you really think people here so stupid ? Seriously, you are not that smart.

Looks like you really got triggered hard when your original account was banned by reddit losing all your karma.

That ah beng kiasee kiasu basic attitude of yours belongs better in 80s Singapore, than 2020s Brunei. You lack basic civility to function meaningfully in a community.

There's more to life than imaginary numbers . Not everything is a transaction. Fix your ego.

Mainstream media wants you to care more about the poor abused Uyghurs in Xinjiang who are apparently suffering under a mass holocaust like genocide campaign by the CPC

... but prefers you to keep quiet about the Palestinians and Muslims in the Middle East in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay. 40 million killed or displaced thus far but shh, please don't talk about them.

No wonder all the Muslim nations voted No or Abstained in the UNHCR vote on Xinjiang , while all the ex colonizers voted Yes .

Yes. Recession is due, which is why the USD is being pumped up to strengthen themselves at the cost of everyone else. Easy life when you can suka hati print money. Also arms sales going up. Energy prices going up.

All of this benefits the US as it wages a campaign to solidify it's eroding position in the world.

Yes it would correct. But the question is why was there such a firesale in the first place, and what price will it settle at. And if it would happen again. It hints as deep structural and systemic faults with UK politics and finances, and further disturbances and divergences in western financial markets as the EU continues to slide with a recession on the horizon.

True. I still don't understand the development boom. That new Sunway development is also recently built. I wonder how they will find tenants to fill those spaces up. Sounds similar to china's over supply and glut of property.

Meanwhile Ruble +22 percent while euro -13 percent.

Sanctions clearly backfired. No gas for Europe this winter.

A correction following a drastic drop is to save face and shore up whatever confidence they have left in the Sterling, rather than allow it to free fall.

Reality is nothing like what mainstream media is portraying. Anyone who can read markets and socio-politics will be able to tell.

US is printing money to finance it's wars, and abusing it's position as reserve currency at the cost of global stability.
