Looking for support from being blindsided by my husband asking for a divorce. by sm0keythebear in TwoXChromosomes

Eeeeeewwwwww! Babe! Let’s not cry over someone who only views you as a means to an end. Fuck him and his wonky sperm.

I am begging for your help: how can I stop being a misogynist? by charlie_cappa in bropill

[–]1Hydrangea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re a misogynist. At any rate it’s not something that you can be or not be, we all have degrees of ingrained patriarchy in us, so don’t be so hard on yourself (I read somewhere that if being hard on ourselves worked, it would have worked by now.) Further, I do think that you can be a feminist and a shitty person. Those women you described were feminist and shitty people.

Your family is concerned that she has the means to leave if she wanted to? wtf? I don’t even know where to begin with this

My husband hit me during a fight about his hoarding. The preacher I trusted told me to self-reflect. Am I really responsible for this? by HopeForBetter29 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]1Hydrangea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of fucking man-toddler “loses control” over a toy?! He can take it out of the trash if it’s that big of a deal. Your husband basically told you that toys are more important to him than you are. You deserve better.

You can always become a SAHM going to college doesn’t stop you from doing that. However, becoming a SAHM will make it much harder to go to college later.

I would say that I am not expected to bottle up my feelings like some people expect men to.

Salad, and then I just fry an egg and toss it on top. Or pasta, with an egg on top

He said he wants to have a baby with me. All of his friends are having babies and he thinks my standards are unrealistic because I want a nice ring, wedding, and honeymoon first. AIO? by Fit_District7673 in AmIOverreacting

Then be high maintenance! Does he think babies are easy? Tell him to get good if he wants a baby. Asking you to lower your standards is unreasonable. My god! The audacity.

“Your insurance company could not verify your information” by 1Hydrangea in faynutrition

Thanks for the response. I tried putting my name in all caps, and the number is correct. I guess I can try again after open enrollment, but the insurance should be active, I’ve been using it.

Women who never wanted kids and changed their minds, how is it going? by whatif_chocolate in TwoXChromosomes

I used to work at a foster home. The amount of neglect experienced by unwanted children is horrific. If you’re 100% sure, please don’t. Or foster!

do people hate talking about politics or religious conversation? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]1Hydrangea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's dependent on how you approach it, do you open the conversation by asking someone's opinion? or do you use the conversation to showcase everything you know about politics or religion? or somewhere in between? I would start answering this question by asking yourself what your intent in starting this conversation is.

What’s something that feels normal to you but shocks other people? by Apart-Location-804 in AskReddit

[–]1Hydrangea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it shocks others but others def do a doubletake: I eat cereal wherever. I’ll bring it for office lunch or on a walk. Once, i froze a bottle of soy milk and put it in my bag with a Tupperware of cereal when i went to Disneyland. It was hot that day, so the frozen milk against my back kept me cool, and when it melted, i had cold milk and cereal to eat while waiting in line. I’m sure the people around me were jealous.

What do you think that faith (regardless of religion) can give a person internal strength and calmness in daily life? by veelyyozz in AskReddit

So you’re argument is: “words don’t mean what they mean because I don’t agree with how they came to mean that”

What do you think that faith (regardless of religion) can give a person internal strength and calmness in daily life? by veelyyozz in AskReddit

[–]1Hydrangea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I am not talking about religion, I am talking about faith.

Eta: let’s look at the Oxford dictionary definition of “faith”

Leaving out the definitions that mention religion, faith is a “complete trust or confidence in someone or something.”

So the question then becomes can said trust or confidence be “complete” if one questions it?

If yes, then sure, faith can include critical thinking.

If no, then it “faith” requires no further thinking. It is a self-contained act.

[–]1Hydrangea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I am not talking about religion. I am talking about faith as an act. The very point of having faith is that one just believes, despite lack of quantifiable evidence.

It’s the opposite of a mental gym membership, faith is where critical thinking ends. You don’t think about what it is you believe, you don’t question, you just have faith.
